Seven year old Rowena Ravenclaw jumped out of bed and skipped to her
father's room . It was emty now but she knew that in an hours time it
would be occupied again by non other than her father himself. She ran
to her maids who helped her into her casual gown nd dress.
It was green with silver linings down it's sides. A thick, cotton
line of emerald green seperated her dress from her lovely top. As one of
the maids was braiding Rowena's long, red hair she squealed in delight because she
had seen her fathers coach drive up the narrow rode to the court yard.
" Wait child! You've still got to finish getting ready!" Edele
yelled at Rowena as she hurried down the marble stairs to meet her father.
Rowena burst open the door to the court yard an waited to fling herslf onto her father again. She looked up and down the rows of coaches looking
for her smiling, waving father.
Instead she found no one. At the very end of the line of coaches she spotted a black coffin with the words engraved on it," Matthias Ravenclaw. " No!" She whispered softly. " It can't be! Papa, you can't be dead! " But sure enough he was. She flung herself onto the rough, dark coffin and began to cry out for her father to come back.
Just then she felt a strong grip on her shoulder and a stern voice saying," You belong to me now, Rowena." She turned aroung to see her fathers sister Meredith Brooklin. She was an evil women and she hated Rowena. But her daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine hated her even
more.
" No!" She screamed and ran to Edele and Birdy, the housemaids. " Edele! Birdy! This can't be happening! Papa can't be dead he just can't!" She said as she buried her small red head into Edele's skirt. Rowena wished it was all a dream. All that night she was muttering to herslf....it was all a dream! Papa is going to come hom,e safe tomorrow and I'm going to wake up from this horrible dream! But she never did.
