Wheee... It's 2:30 in the morning and I'm not sleepy. I've gone over the bend. Gad, I haven't eaten or even moved in hours. Tally ho...
Author's Note: Again, after Goblet of Fire. But this time it's from Cho's perspective and...well r/r. PG for the one swear word…
Midnight Requiem
It's three in the morning, and everyone in the Girl's Dormitory is asleep, except for me. I don't even know why I'm up so late, except that I...need to adjust to all these changes.
It's not that I really loved him, I mean like, sure, but not love. I didn't all bubbly and excited when I thought of him. He was more of a guiding thread in a maze than the missing part of my soul. He knew me; he understood.
On the outside, I look and act like such a girl, you know, the glitter and hair clips, but I'm not like that. Actually, my favorite color is black, the color of the night. To me, black is the all-consuming peace that one finds just before sleep.
Cedric understood, to some level. Admittedly, he was daunted by the thought of a tattoo or piercing on my body, but he felt the same yearning for the dreamless peace I did. That desire to never have to worry again. To lie in the darkness and be totally still. Totally? Yersh, what a horrible word.
I must have got from my friends. Hmmm... I use this term widely, of course, because I wasn't even "popular" until Cedric befriended me. Hell, I wasn't even known before I got on the Quidditch Team. Where was I? Oh, friends. They kind of...grabbed on one day when I wasn't on my guard, and you know I'm just "too sweet" to even think of hurting someone's feelings.
Now, I sit here, wondering what will happen now that Cedric's dead. Everyone says, "Go on, live your life. You're young," but in truth, I feel ancient right now. It seems like my core, my staff has rotted, and my life will begin to fall.
Tomorrow, I'll have to get up, and go through lessons like nothing's happened. It'll be hard, I already know that. Even now, the happiness is draining from my body, slipping away like mist from the sun.
I'll put on such a show; a daytime masquerade. No one will know that the creature name Cho is hurt and bleeding inside. At night, I'll mourn for you.
A midnight requiem for Cedric Diggory. Friend. Confidant. Gone.
Author's note: No, I don't think Cho's really out of character, and in my little world:
1) Cedric and Cho were more like friends than lovers.
2) Originally, Cho was very unpopular and nerdy. But Quidditch and Cedric-baby loosened her up.
3) Out of the two, Cho was the slightly delirious one, although she masked it quite well. Cedric was more of a big older brother or something...Oho, the possibilities...
Anyhow, now it's time to *bursts into song* r&r, r&r, r&r...OK...time for my sugar break... Valete!
