A Place Nearby

I walked into the hospital saw my little Kari lying there, helpless. She lay there with her eyes closed. I didn't know whether she was alive or only sleeping. Mom told me to be home as soon as I could, but I couldn't leave my little angel. I called my mom and told her I was staying with the love of my life, till her dying moment.

Ever since last month when the docter told her she had cancer, I never knew thi would happen so soon. I don't understand, one minute she's healthy, the next minute, she's here, dying.

I entered the room
sat by your bed all through the night
Iwatched your daily fight
I hardly knew

Why did this happen to my angel? The girl I'd loved since I was 8. As I sat there hugging her, hot tears fell on her face. I didn't want her to go. I heard a moan, she moved slowly.
"Kari?" I said.
"TK" She answered smiling.
"Your gonna be better, I know it" I said bravely.
"No TK, you've gotta listen to me" She said.
"What?" I asked.
"Heaven is a place nearby, so I won't be so far away. And If you try and look for me, maybe you'll find me someday. Heaven is a place nearby, so theres no need to say goodbye. I wanna ask you not to cry, I'll always be by your side" She said quietly.

The pain was almost more than I could bear
And still I hear
Your last words to me.

Then it happened. At 3:25 in the morning, my angel flew. Up to heaven, like she said she would. Kari was such a good person, I know she's on heaven.

It may be a week ago, but I can't bring myself to come out of my room. I just want to stay there forever and cry. Then today, I felt heavens ray shining into my heart, telling me to stay strong. I could tell the ray was sent by Kari.

Then I remembered what she had said to me, I whispered it quietly.
"Heaven is a place nearby, so I won't be so far away. And If you try and look for me, maybe you'll find me someday. Heaven is a place nearby, so theres no need to say goodbye. I wanna ask you not to cry, I'll always be by your side". I knew Kari meant that. 'Don't worry Kari' I thought to myself 'you'll always be in my heart'.

That night, I lay in bed. Why did god make this happen to Kari? She was a sweet and innocent girl who didn't have a halmful bone in her body.
"TK" I heard the wind whisper. I took no notice of it.
"TK" it whispered again. Then I recognised the voice. It was Kari.
"Kari, come back to me" I whispered back.
"Remember what I said please. Until another time" Said the wind. Then all was silent. Kari had left me, for now at least.

And even when I go to sleep
I still can hear your voice
And those words
I never will forget.
