whim-sea
i'm blown to dust by your thousand-kiss rain
speak me up a lie for trying to hide
what feelings stream a river of pain go by
and by and by a sigh for twists and turns
in a melting relation-force-compromise of souls
this night given star-specked skies
to the eyes of a bluster-faced hero,
i cry-die-try to relive
a moment's worth of tortured happiness
swept away in a frantic flick of unselfishness;
but do you give away the gem of your heart
to the unworthiest of players in this court?
feigning fainting i feint the foe
that shows up in my room tied and screwed
into a cross made of the falling star
that hell-borne birthed this nation of fools.
please, carry me down into the sounded life
that takes and gives and breaks us down,
for hope against hope a speech gives repose
in soft-spoken whispers and kisses you throw.
