Remember me

Remember me

The fight had begun. They were winning. But she was lost, alone in a thick cloud of whiteness. She couldn't see anything. All around her she heard their voices and the loud sounds of the battle raging somewhere else. They sounded so near. She wanted to be with them, to help them win the fight, but she could get pass the fog.

Inside her head she heard her own voice whispering the words she had long ago spoke: "Something…when I'm with you all…I…feel like we're on the same wavelength…ya know? But then the battles start happening, it's different. Everyone's tempo seems to pike up and…I get left behind. I try to catch up, but it's no use…How far is everyone going? I can't hear anymore…Once I catch up, I wonder…Is everyone safe? Will they welcome me with open arms?…Is everyone ok? Will we all make it back together?…"

Rinoa runs a little. But before long she is out of breath and still she does not make it out of the smoke. She wants to cry, to be with them so bad that it hurts. She sinks to her knees, drained and disheartened. The battle will be over soon and she will still be stuck in the fog. Will they be worried about her? Will they come and find her? Will they even miss her?

Tears roll down her face. It is horrible feeling like this. To be alone with your friends so far ahead of you. To hurt this much and have so much pain inside of you, just longing to see your friends. Suddenly a hand parts the mist and touches her face tenderly. Surprised, she looks up, tears in her large brown eyes.

"Squall?" Her voice is soft.

He smiles down at her, gently. He helps her to her feet and holds her close. "I won't lose you just yet. Come on. Let's go." Slowly he leads her out of the haze to an uncertain future. But it is a future she knows will wait for her, for Squall, for her friends.
