Wind Beneath My Wings
By Lady Rhiana
Disclaimer: The song, Wind Beneath My Wings, belongs to Bette Middler and her
people. Anything you recognise from the Harry Potter series belongs to J K Rowling.
Authors Note: Well I was sitting in on my friends singing lesson and he was singing this song, which I have always loved. I decided it would be perfect for my first song fic so I changed a few of the words, and here it is ^_^ It's unrealistic, I know but I like it. Enjoy! Please R&R. Thanks so much to Lady Reena for Beta Reading this for me.
Harry Potter stood nervously backstage in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. It was his
graduation ceremony, and he had planned something extra special for his friends, Ron and Hermione. He twiddled his thumbs and straightened up his bow tie.
"Harry, you're on in five," whispered Colin Creevey, who was acting as a stage hand. Harry walked to the side of the stage.
"...And now, here is Harry Potter!" said Professor Dumbledore. Harry walked nervously out onto the stage and stood at the microphone. He lowered it a little and looked out over the crowd. There was a dance for the parents and students afterwards so everyone was dressed up in fancy clothes.
"Good evening Ladies, Gentlemen, teachers and most of all friends." Harry began. "I have prepared a little something for two of the best friends anyone could have, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley." A light went up over the little table Hermione and Ron were sitting at and everybody clapped and cheered. Ron's ears turned bright red. When things were quiet again, Harry started to sing.
" Oh, oh, oh, oh -
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your faces.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory,
while you two were the ones all the strain.
Two comforting faces without names for so long.
Two friendly smiles to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my heroes,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you two.
Did you ever know that you're my heroes?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my heroes?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you two, the wind beneath my wings."
Everyone in the great hall clapped and cheered, and a lot of people wiped tears from their eyes. As Harry bowed to the audience Hermione and Ron left their seats and went up onto the stage. The crowd cheered even louder, and they all bowed together. They left the stage together, each of them wondering what they were going to do without the other two always being there after graduation.
