I see through the window of my mind's eye
See his face
See his expression
He gazes back
His mind is full of a single thought
He wishes to kill me
I set my jaw
And move to draw my weapon for our clash of wits
My suit of armor
This metal behemoth
This titan engine
An extension of my essence
It copies my every thought
And draws its saber
The enemy also draws
His suit moves onto the attack
My saber moves up
Parries the thrust
Counterattacks
A pretty way to die
I think to myself
As explosions of fire blossom
All around our dueling forms
We continue our dance to death
Our blades hiss as he slashes at me
Sparks fly as I catch his blade on my own
Our battle continues on
His saber catches my sword arm
And severs it
He turns his suit
And walks away
Leaving me alone
In the vast emptiness
Of the vessel whose name is Libra
My name means peace
Though I fight
I look at my hands
They are stained with the blood of many
I gaze through the ship
To the planet beyond
And make a decision
The Fates watch as I make my move
I save the one who must live
By giving my own existence
Oh the irony of it all
I have saved the world I once loved
The world I had sworn to destroy
An explosion of argent fire consumes me
I scream an anguished scream
But I live on
Like the man I have loved to hate
And the world I have hated to love
