He walked back to his own quarters. It felt good being back at the Temple. He had done his share of running around trying to save the galaxy.

After all this he would finally be able to do what he always wanted. Teaching the initiates. He knew some would laugh if they heard that restless and impatient Obi-Wan was content with staying in one place watching over little children. But he knew he was good at it.

As a Padawan he, as every one else, had to teach some classes. He was too impatient with the junior Padawans, but the younger initiates didn't seem to get to him.

He had just visited his Former Master. He always did that after a mission. He truly enjoyed the friendship that had stayed between them after the training bond had been dissolved.

He didn't feel as comfortable with his Master's new Padawan Anakin Skywalker. At first he had thought he was being jealous for being so easily replaced, even before he was gone. But he wasn't so sure now. The ten year old boy just gave him the shivers. As with previous visits, he had hoped the boy would have to attend his classes then, but, of couse he had no such luck.

He arrived at his own quarters and palmed the door open. He put his cloak over the chair closest to the door. He went straight to the kitchen to make a simple meal for himself.

He put his plate on his lap as he sat down on his couch while searching for the sportschannels on the holonet.

Later that night he went to do his daily meditations. He had always been impatient and his mind had the tendency to 'float' as his Master had called it. That's why he always used a focal point. His Master's rock.

The rock his Master had given him for his thirteenth birthday. He carried it with him at all times. It was hidden in a pocket of his cloak. He got up to get his cloak and..

The rock was gone.

He knew he still had it during the visit to his Master and there was no way it could have fallen out of the pocket. That was just not possible.

There was only one explanation. Anakin must have taken it out of the pocket. *Kenobi, behave. It will not do to accuse your Master's apprentice. You don't know for sure. You just want to blame someone for your sloppiness. And you don't like the boy.*

*He's not too fond of you either* a small voice in his head said. That was true. Even when he tried to be nice to Anakin, the boy looked as if he hated Obi-Wan.

He dreaded having to tell Qui-Gon he had lost the stone. He could not tell his Master about his suspicion. AS if he would believe the accusation anyway. No, it was far better to save the friendship and not tell Qui-Gon.

He would just have to keep an eye on Anakin.
