Goodbye Love

Goodbye Love

"Goodbye Love" is copyright Jonathan Larson from the musical RENT. I also don't own Gundam Wing or any of its characters.

I'm a major RENThead so you'll probably be seeing a lot of this from me in the future.

I received an e-mail a while ago, about how someone couldn't find anything good about the greasy, justice-obsessed Gundam Pilot. So I sat down and thought about it. Finally I came up with this. It's an attempt to explain what goes on in his mind and why, just know that it's all from my imagination.

When I'm finished typing this I'll go back to making fun of him like I usually do. ;)

"Goodbye Love.... Goodbye Love... Came to say bye love... Goodbye..."

The song trailed off in his head. He was spacing out again... no big surprise for someone who had lost his wife. A barrage of memories hit him... hard.

"Wo ai ni, Wu-man," a petite Chinese girl whispered in her new husband's ear. He turned to face her, everything apparent in his eyes.

"He wo ai ni Meiran," They shared a gentle kiss and rolled over, content to just stay in each other's company... in their soulmate's arms.

"Hey Wu-man! Whatcha thinkin' about?"

Wufei opened his eyes to see Duo standing at the door, peering in.

"Don't call me that," he growled, unconsciously reaching for his katana. Duo turned and bolted from the room, leaving Wufei alone again.

He looked where his hand was, now resting on the katana's leather handle. He pulled his hand away, as if he had been burnt.

"Wu-man, I want to be strong! Teach me Gong Fu!"

Wufei smirked at the picture his wife made, waving around the katana in the air, not understanding what she was doing.

"Alright. Put your hand up like-"

The lesson continued on through the night. To Wufei's amazement... she was a very quick learner.

He blinked and walked over to sit down on his bed before being overtaken by intense nostalgia.

"Wufei, will we always be together?"

"Nataku could destroy China more times than I could count... and I'd still find you... one life or the next..."

She smiled, apparently pleased with his response.

Wufei remembered seeing his Gundam for the first time. A death machine. So much riding on it... on his ability to save the world.

"Nataku..." he murmured not even noticing he had said it.

Wufei ran after his wife of three years and pinned her to the ground.

"Injustice," she whispered, smirking, before giving him a light kiss, pushing him off and bolting out of the room.

The weak onna. He had picked up the habit before... Why couldn't she still be here? I may not have been this cold. I probably wouldn't have gotten to fly the Gundam... but seeing her for just one moment would be worth it.

"Goodbye Love.... Goodbye Love... Came to say bye love... Goodbye..."

"Nataku..." he whispered into the air, and letting one single tear trail down his cheek.
