"You know, we all have to go
our separate paths. I'm not a SeeD, or even a member of your Garden. I needed
help, and you all were there for me. But, now that the Sorceress is gone, and
the future, past and present are returned to normal, we all have to return to
our lives. Yours as SeeDs, mine as leader of the Forest Owls."
"I have to go, too."
"No, you don't," Selphie said to Irvine. "Your Garden was
taken over and destroyed."
"But I'm not a SeeD. We'd be too far apart. You guys
saved the world. You're too far ahead. I'm only 16, I'm too young to compete
with you guys."
"You have to stay. You both do," Zell said.
"The Timber train is leaving in a hour. I can't stay. I
have a life, Zell." Rinoa said.
"We have lives, too!"
"But they're not the same. My life is different from
yours. I'm sorry, I have to go." Rinoa started walking off. "Oh, I almost
forgot, here Squall." Squall had been there the entire time, not saying
anything, just watching. Rinoa threw something to him, and he caught it. It was
his Greiver ring.
"If I ever need a favor, I'll know to call you guys." She
walked away this time, without any interruption.
"You're not leaving us, too, Irvine. Rinoa has a reason,
but you don't."
"Selphie, you know you're my girl and all, but I just
can't hang around with you guys. We're from two different worlds."
"You can't go. I won't say goodbye." Selphie crossed her
arms.
"Selphie, the time we had was fun, but I can't hang
around."
"No, you can't leave. You're one of us now. We don't care
about the age, or who you were with before. You're us now! You can't deny that! You can't stand here and say that
we'll never accept you, or that we are worlds apart! You're part of my life! Of
all of our lives! You can't go!" She started crying.
"Selphie, goodbye." He wiped her tears.
"Go, then. But I won't have the final goodbye." Selphie
watched Irvine walk off, too. She cried into Squall's shoulder, and he let her,
because he'd lost someone very important that day, too.
