Little Secrets
A young man walked into the hospital room and stood beside the bed where a girl laid. His usual spiky brown hair was a mess and there were bags under those blue, grey eyes. He is Squall Leonhart; Commander Leonhart was what others called him and respected. But what does it matter now? The girl he cared about and also…loved is lying in a coma.
What if she never wakes up? I never confessed my feelings for her. She probably thinks I'm a heartless bastard, not giving a damn about anyone or never caring, but I do care! I care for her and I care for the people that I command and also my friends.
Slowly he sat down beside her, she almost looked as if she was asleep instead of half dead lying in a coma. Her beautiful black hair spread on the pillow and those huge dark eyes were closed.
"Please forgive me Rinoa…" He whispered, Squall took those slim hands into his own. "Rinoa? Can you hear me? Please don't leave me Rinoa, how did this happen to you?" he said to her still holding her hands.
"Rinoa, you were always so full of life and excitement. Never had I ever met anyone like you and I admired you." Squall continued to talk as if she is listening, "Rinoa, you've got to hang in there, don't let you life slip away because I…I love you and I don't want to let you go." Squall felt his eyes start to burn, his throat felt dry and his heart was aching. Is this how it feels when you are losing someone you care about?
"Rinoa, I want to tell you a secret. To tell you the truth I care a lot about how people think of me, that's why I don't let people in so they would think of me as a cold, heartless iceberg that's not worth knowing about. That way it makes it easier for me to get by when they think of me like that. It was this way until I met you, you try to get me to open up but every time it failed you would try again." Squall stopped than bent down to whisper to her, "That's why I love you and it's our little secret."
With that he stood up and walked out the room. He nearly bumped into Zell Dincht and Quistis Trepe who was holding a bunch of flowers in one hand.
"Hey Squall, are you alright man?" asked Zell. Squall nodded and walked off down the corridor.
"Did you think it worked?" asked Zell.
"I don't know. C'mon lets ask Rinoa!" said Quistis, with that they both ran into the room.
Rinoa Heartily was sitting on the bed singing Eyes On Me and smiling dreamingly.
"Hey Rinoa! Did he confess?" asked Zell as he came bouncing into the room.
Rinoa jumped from the bed laughing, "Of course! I still can't believe I fooled him this easily, it's hard pretending to be in a coma when the man of your dreams is saying I love you."
Quistis came in and hugged Rinoa, giving her the flowers.
"Now I can tell the doctors that you woke up!" She shouted happily.
Zell and Quistis was just about to go out the door when Rinoa stopped them.
"Hey guys, remember not to tell anyone." She warned than added, "It can be out little secret."
