I Don't Have a Chance

WARNING: Takari and Koukari content ahead!!!
A/N: A gift fic for a friend of mine named Strawberry MOON. Happy belated B-day!!!
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon. Oh, sadness.
It's kind of odd to be alone in another country with no company but Kari.
I mean, Hong Kong is a nice place, and I'm glad that I paired up with Kari…
…but it hurts, too.
You see, I love Hikari Kamiya.
However, I will never tell her.
After all, she already has two suitors who are more fit for her than I am.
Still, we all know the outcome. Hope and Light were destined to be together.
And they are.
Oh, they don't make it obvious. It's mostly blushing whenever they get too close together and they treat each other as a little bit better than friends would. I guess they don't want anyone to be upset.
Davis ignores the obvious and still goes after Kari with all his heart.
I hate to say it, but Davis is in denial.
Maybe I am, too.
Look at me: A computer geek.
She probably wanted to be paired up with TK on this trip, but we needed one D3 for each of the twelve locations.
Maybe she would've preferred to have gone with her brother, but – by some twist of fate – ended up with little old me.
As I watch three more poor souls fall for her beauty, I can't help but feel pity for them.
They haven't known her as long as any of us have. They don't know that her heart already belongs to another.
They don't know what I know.
I never really tried to win her love at all. After all, a computer geek and an angel? They don't go together well.
As I glance over at her once again, she has that familiar smile on her face.
If she told me to die while smiling that smile, I would've obeyed in a nanosecond.
It also works well on these new Digidestined boys that we've met.
Jackie – who looks incredibly like Gennai – is talking to them, explaining more about the team of Digidestined.
I briefly think about when I had tried to explain it. I had ended up confusing them even more than they already were.
Kari had looked more than slightly annoyed.
Like I said, I'm not good enough for her.
After all, she has the tall, good-looking, blonde, blue-eyed basketball star to sweep her off her feet. I'm just the annoying, short, knowledgeable computer geek.
No contest.
I don't have a chance.
