Is it because I'm small? Because I'm not strong? Is it because I jump out into battle before you send me out? I want to get stronger Whenever I jump out, you try to call me back, but I don't let you and then when I lose, you give the other human that paper that you treasure so much, and get mad at me I just want you to like me.
Maybe I shouldn't jump out like that, then maybe you
wouldn't get as mad, but I try to be good, really I do!
It's my fault, I bet. Maybe I should just give up, retreat
to a life trapped in a red and white ball. That way you
won't get mad. And maybe, someday, you'll send me out,
and I'll win a battle for you, and it will be the other
human who gives you the treasure-paper.
I try. Every time I go out, I try. I never succeed. Giving up, I think, is the best thing I can do. Unless I make you proud.
I'll be proud, if that day ever comes, too. You'll like me, the others wouldn't treat me like I just hatched
