(This is set right after they get back from Kutou, after finding and being betrayed by Yui.)

"Miaka, why are you avoiding me?" Tamahome asked. "Tamahome.... Tamahome, Yui's in love with you!" Miaka choked out with tears in her eyes. "It doesn't matter how Yui feels about me, I'm in love with someone else..." Tamahome said in a heartfelt voice. " You...You are...who?" Miaka asked, her heart starting to break at the thought of Tamahome's heart belonging to another, and not her own. " Miaka, isn't it obvious who..." Tamahome said in a joking voice. Miaka frowned and racked her brain, trying to think of who it could be...could it be Nuriko.Tamahome wasn't like that...was he? "Miaka..." Tamahome said, turning her face back towards his. "The person I'm in love with is..." Tamahome paused, seeing tears start to well up in Miaka's eyes. "The person I'm in love with is you!" Tamahome said, cupping Miaka face in his hands. "Me!?!...you ...you love me?" Miaka squeaked tears of happiness welling in her eyes. "Yes, I do..." Tamahome said with a smile. Miaka jumped off the bed and practically yelled out his name. "Tamahome!" He braced himself to catch Miaka as she jumped into his arms, knocking them both to the floor. "I love you so much Tamahome...so much..." Miaka said over and over, until Tamahome stopped her with a kiss. After a while they pulled back for air, and just laying there for a while, in total peace. "Is this what heaven feels like?" Miaka whispered in Tamahome's ear. "Yes my love, this is heaven." Those were the last words spoken that night as Miaka and Tamahome sealed their lips and hearts together, proving that love can overcome anything.
