Innocence

Innocence

I look into her eyes and I see something I lost in my life a long time ago…

Innocence.

Then I ask myself: What is innocence? The true meaning of it…

How can it be described?

I see her eyes…they are clear and true. Untainted by the hardships of the world that now surrounds us.

Innocence is the ability to see the world through a child's eyes.

A diamond…hidden in a sea of sand is about as hard to find as someone with pure innocence.

For they have pure light in their souls and they fight to give that light to others.

But…I fear for the innocent as well…

How can they stay innocent and bright, when the darkness of the real world presses against them? A star in the night shines bright, when seen in the sky. Yet when the cloud of hardships come, that light is dimmed, and innocence is lost.

To stay strong and pure, is a hardship in itself, and one I plan to fight for her…

I will be there, when the world attempts to dismay her…

I will be there for her, when her inner light begins to flicker…

For when her innocence is gone, so goes my happiness.

She has been there for me, when I thought I was alone.

She gave me that insight that only a child could possess.

She knows of things and believes in stories, that sometimes people forget about and so she reminds them.

She reminds them to see the good in life.

The good in friends.

And the good in love.

And so I find, that I love her not for her powers, or her beauty, or talents.

But I love her, because she is one of only people I know…who still have that one trait…the one things that reins over all others…

Innocence.
