Fantasy VII, Aeris, Zack and the Lifestream are not mine. They belong to
Squaresoft.
But don't let
this stop you from reading the fic! Hope you enjoy it!
At first I couldn't
believe it. But as I saw the sword protruding from my stomach, realization
hit me and I knew, this was my destiny. To die for the Planet. To save
it from Meteor. I was a heroine.
But I was dead.
Heroism just isn't
what it used to be.
After Sephiroth thrust
his sword into me, I lost feeling. I was numb. Then, finally, I passed
out. I would never see if the Planet would stand against Meteor. I could
only pray for it. And I died while doing it.
As I lost consciousness,
I saw a blinding light, then calm, light green… bubbles. Bubbles?! Bubbles
as green as emeralds floated upwards. I looked around and all I saw was
green. I slowly shook my head. I couldn't believe I would see this place
so soon.
I was in the Lifestream.
As I descended into
the watery depths, I felt light-headed and a little vulnerable. When I
finally landed, I looked around, half-expecting to find a monster or something.
I whipped around.
And came face to
face with Zack Lightstar.
I gasped, my eyes
wide open. His face, however, was happy. He gently wrapped his arms around
me and hugged me. After a slight hesitation, I hugged him back.
"Aeris," he said,
in a soft voice, as we pulled away, "Long time no see." I nodded, "Yeah."
My eyes went back to its normal size, and I relaxed. It's hard to be uncomfortable
around Zack. He was so compassionate, I understood why Cloud had him for
a best friend. I smiled at him and he smiled back.
"You haven't changed
a bit," he joked, "Still sweet. And beautiful." I blushed pink. He was
still the charmer, one of the cute things about him.
One of the reasons
I fell in love with him.
"You're looking pretty
good too," I said softly. It was now his turn to blush and he stuttered
out, "Um, uh, well, thanks!" I giggled quietly and slipped my hand to his.
He looked down at it and blushed even redder. He looked so cute when he
blushed!
"Aeris…"
"Hmm?"
"Nothing."
I looked up at him
and saw that he was a little shy. I nudged him a little. He turned and
stared at my emerald green eyes with his Mako green ones. He was so handsome,
even more than I remembered. His spiky black hair and his bright green
eyes, filled with charisma and hope. Heck, he was even cuter than Cloud,
if that was possible. Well, Cloud's better off with Tifa. I hope he was
happy with her. I wished them all the best. But he had to remember me every
once in a while!
I tiptoed on my toes
and kissed his cheek. I don't know what made me do that! But I knew it
was the right thing to do.
He was smiling. Or
was he smiling? I couldn't tell. Was it a sad smile? A happy smile? A confused
smile or what?
He touched my arm...
no, grabbed it is a better term... and pulled me back to him, close to
his face. I felt a little nervous, but this was Zack Lightstar! I trusted
him with my life. Well, not anymore, since I'm dead.
"I… love you, Aeris
Gainsborough."
Soft as a rose petal,
he kissed me.
I was surprised,
but I closed my eyes and savored the feeling of his lips pressed to mine.
Frankly, I enjoyed it. It felt so natural. Like, it was meant to be. And
it was. I loved Zack Lightstar, with all my heart and soul. Slowly, I wrapped
my arms around his neck and pulled him closer.
As I slowly pulled
back, I saw him open his eyes and smile at me.
I just smiled.
And kissed him back.
Thank you for taking
time to read this!
