Bulma-Memories

Bulma's life was usually an exciting one, nobody could deny that. If she wasn't searching for the Dragon Balls, she was running from dinosaurs. If she wasn't running from dinosaurs, she was being caught in the middle of a huge fight between planet destroying maniacs. So why was it that her life was dull all of a sudden? And why did she feel empty?

Bulma dropped her robe onto the floor and stepped into the shower. The warm water was physically soothing, but her soul was in pain. Lots of pain. She leaned forward with her arm against the wall of the shower, the water running down her body. Then, she placed her head against her arm. Bulma could feel her tears mixing with the water. She was in denial and she knew it. For the last two weeks she hadn't even mentioned it. Hadn't contacted Gohan and Chi Chi to see how they were doing. She hadn't even allowed herself to cry. Well she was done holding it in.

"Goku...I miss you so much. I guess...I guess I was afraid to believe that you were truly gone. I mean, you died once before and you still came back. Remember when you and Piccolo fought your brother? You still came back. Remember when you fought Frieza on planet Namek? You still came back. Remember when your heart was attacked by that virus? You still came back. And then you fought Cell. But you never came back. And you never will, will you?"

Bulma wiped the tears from her eyes let the water run down her body some more. At that moment, she remembered what was possibly the dumbest, funniest thing Goku had ever done. When they first met as children, not only did Bulma have to tell Goku what a bath was, but then she had to give him one. It was so funny how he was naive like that. And then, when Bulma decided that she wanted to take a bath, Goku walked in on her without thinking anything was wrong. And when Bulma asked Goku why he was in the bathroom, he had replied,

"I wanted to help you scrub your back because you don't have a tail," Bulma said with a chuckle.

Goku had always been funny like that. He was so naive, and yet so powerful. And then there was that smile. Goofy, yet charming. The kind of smile that could cheer anybody up. That was Goku in a nutshell. And if Goku were still alive, he would have found a way to make Bulma feel better. Even now, he wouldn't want everyone to feel sorry for him. He would want everyone to live in peace. He would want everyone to be happy.

"Is that what you want, Goku? You want me to be happy? That's kind of hard, you know. But I guess I do have a few things to be happy about. I mean, the world is safe again. I have my health, and I have a wonderful son to raise. And my...um...other son, is going to save his world. So yeah, maybe I do have a few things to be happy about. But I'm still going to miss you. You've always been a good friend, Goku."

At that moment, Bulma heard a hard pounding on the front door of her house. She lifted her head up and poked her head out of the shower. Again she heard a loud pounding. And then, she heard a familiar voice hollering.

"Open up, woman! I want in!" yelled Vegeta.

Bulma stepped out of the shower, dried off with a towel, and put her robe back on. Then, she walked out of the bathroom towards the front door. As she walked, she smiled and looked straight up.

"At least you don't have to put up with this. Well, you take care, Goku. I'll miss you," said Bulma.

And high above her, Goku smiled.

"I'll miss you too, Bulma," said Goku.
