Silver Sun
Minako looked out of her dorm room's window as rain fell to the six stories below her floor. Her body was numb; it had been for a while now even though the oversized sweatshirt she wore kept her quite warm. She wasn't sure why, but for the past six months, she'd been in a deep depression. Sure, she had gotten sad before, but this was bad. If she didn't take her medicine, which she usually didn't, it was as if she couldn't see color. She only saw grays and black. Only one thing was color anymore and it was silver. Silver, a blindingly bright color in her world of darkness and Prozac, was all that stood out and kept her going anymore. But now…now she had lost that silver too.
"I feel like I don't know you anymore Minako! I feel like…like I'm living with a stranger! I tried to help you with this depression thing, but I don't know what to do anymore. Minako-chan…I'm so confused…"
His words echoed through her empty mind as she looked at the empty side of the room. She closed her eyes remembering when the wall was filled with books and posters and pictures. She remembered when the now uninhabited bed was filled with a colorful quilt and a man she loved. Only he could make the rain go away and bring the silver sun out in her world of darkness. Alas, the sun had set on her heart, soul and mind and left only cold, rain, and darkness.
"Minako, baby, listen to me. I just can't go on like this. It's not healthy for either one of us. Oh Lord, Minako! You can't even hear me! All you do is zone out! I don't think you're even here anymore, Aino Minako…"
She remembered how his voice trailed off, his face saddened, and his tears fell as he said that last sentence. With that he picked up his packed suitcases and walked right out of her dorm room, right out of her world, right out her heart leaving numbness behind him. Minako unblinkingly looked back out at the rain. Now her tears fell like the water outside. She sighed a deep, long sigh as if she were exhaling for the last time. She felt like she was. She felt like her heart was set on solar energy and couldn't function now that her silver sun had left her in the shadows. She rested a tired hand on the windowpane and then eventually opened it, letting all the rain from outside come in.
Kunzite ran madly down the hallway, a smile on his face. Why was he so stupid? He was in love. And in love all things thrived even strained relationships. He was going to make this better. He was going to make HER better. He wanted her to be happy. He wanted to be by her side and guide her. He wanted to be her sunshine. He ran into the old dorm room he shared with her. "Minako, I-" he stopped and looked around. "Minako?" She was hiding most probably. "Minako, baby, I'm sorry. I love you Minako!" He waited for her reply but it didn't come. He looked to the open window and the rain rushing in. He walked over to it and glanced out.
"Minako…. I love you…." Kunzite said, moving strands of his silver hair from his shining silver eyes. Water fell onto his untied hair, rain blurring his vision making this all seem even more like a dream. The color red flashed all over as the siren sounded and the red light spun. Blood littered the college's campus grass that was exactly six stories from Minako's dorm. He looked down at his fallen beauty that was wearing his sweatshirt.. "Minako…" A paramedic lifted a black cloth covering her body and just like that Kunzite's golden sun was swallowed by a world of darkness.
