"Darien!" Serena called as she walked into his apartment. "Darien, where are you?"
"Serena?" Darien questioned. "Why are you here?"
"My mom sent me this letter and it was addressed for both of us. I came here so we could check it out." She held out a white envelope with fancy writing on it.
'What could be so important that Queen Serenity would address it to both of us?' Darien wondered. 'I wonder…' He let his thoughts trail off as Serena opened the letter.
Dear Serena and Darien,
I want to know if you will come back to the Moon Kingdom. The Passing of the Crowns is coming and we need some one to take our place. Rini said she would take your letter back to me when you are ready. The Passing of the Crowns is on December 31 at midnight. Come. We need you to rule the Moon Kingdom. Our time is almost over. Please consider.

"What is the Passing of the Crowns?" Darien asked, growing curious.
"The Passing of the Crowns is the ceremony where the old rulers of the Moon Kingdom pass their crowns to the new rulers." Serena was obviously still in shock. She was speaking so that only Darien could hear her, as if someone else was there and she didn't want them to hear her. "It is held on the 31st of December at midnight so that the new rulers can have a fresh start for the New Year." Serena stared at the letter.
"Should we tell the other girls?" Darien asked her, trying to get her out of her trance. That seemed to grab her and pull her out of her little daydream.
"Yeah. They should know." Serena looked at her watch. "Ahhhhhh! I'm late for study buddies!" Darien laughed. 'She's back.'
