Griffinqueen- Defined
Griffinqueen: Defined
A/N: The first in a series of "random insanity" that I'm posting. This is based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so if you haven't read it you might find this hard to understand.

Omitted from the fifty-third edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

GRIFFINQUEEN
M.o.M. classification: XXXXX1

Like the werewolf, the Griffinqueen is a human that can change into a beast. Unlike werewolves, however, Griffinqueens transform voluntarily. Also, Griffinqueens retain their intelligence and self control when they transform, raising justified doubts about classifying them as beasts. They are included in this book for the sole purpose of information.

Griffinqueens are born from the general population, though never Muggle. They follow no known genetic pattern and are always female.

Griffinqueens are much lighter in color than their non-royal counterparts. They have white feathers on their eagle half and a very light and even tawny color to their lion's fur. The beak and talons are made of pure gold, which would make them very valuable if anyone had ever managed to get them without being at the least severely maimed.2

There is only one Griffinqueen at a time and they were thought to have died out since the Middle Ages. However, another was born and at the time of this printing is attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Anyone wishing to learn more about Griffinqueens should consult A Historie of Gryffyn Queenes by William and Archibald Cullstrim.

1The Griffinqueen earns a XXXXX rating because of her wrath when angered and her formidable battle skills. One is therefore greatly advised not to get on a Griffinqueen's bad side.
2See above. Griffinqueens must always be careful to trim their fingernails only in human form, if they can be persuaded to cut them at all. The talons are the primary weapon of any Griffinqueen, so this is not often.
