The Secret Mission

"Are you sure we won't get caught?" Demanded Moony.

"We will if you keep asking me if we'll get caught!" Padfoot hissed at him.

They were walking quickly down a dark street made of cobblestone. Every fifteen feet or so their feet would land in puddles, soaking the bottom of their robes. Every forty feet or so a flickering street light would attempt to light up the sidewalk, but it didn't help too much. That was okay for Moony and Padfoot, because they didn't want to be seen.

"I still can't believe we're doing this," Moony muttered.

"I like it less than you, so clam up, will you?" Padfoot growled.

Moony just rolled his eyes, and they hurried down the street in silence. They turned into a dark alley and hustled to the end.

"I wouldn't be doing this for anyone but James," Moony said. "And I still don't see why he can't be doing this himself."

"Moony! You know why he can't do this. Show a little more respect for the poor guy, will you?"

"Sorry," Moony said, hanging his head. "I'm just glad we got out of there while we could. But at the same time, don't you feel the least bit guilty?"

"Guilty? No. Harry will be fine. We just have to get back before things get any worse than they are."

They met with a guy in a black trench coat, who held a bag in his hands. Padfoot and Moony looked around nervously to see if anyone was watching. No one was there. Oh, what would happen to his reputation if a girl saw him doing this?

"You got the money?" the stranger asked.

"Right here," Padfoot said, shoving a little sack of galleons and sickles into his hand. "I can't believe it costs this much," he muttered under his breath.

"Hey, you said you didn't want to be seen. I charge extra for that." the stranger said.

"Yeah, yeah. And remember, this never happened," Padfoot said, taking the bag, glancing around nervously once more, and hiding it in his robes.

"You got it," the stranger said, and disappeared. Padfoot and Moony hustled out of the alley and back into the heart of Godric's Hollow as quickly as they could.

They approached the house quickly. Screams came shooting out of it. Padfoot glanced around nervously once more to make sure nobody had seen them. Then he reminded himself that nobody would know what was in the bag.

They reached the house and opened in the door. Padfoot brought the bag out and held it at arm's length, using the other hand to cover his nose.

"Here," he said. "I hope it's not too late."

Lily saw Sirius and her eyes lit up in appreciation. "Thank God!" She said, snatching the bag away and taking out the package.

"James! Come here!" she yelled, running to the back room. James hurried out, holding a wailing Harry in his arms.

"They brought the diapers!"
