Two Minutes

"Report!" yelled Harry Kim again. He was very proud to
have command of the bridge.
"Harry," said an annoyed helm ensign, "You asked that
two minutes ago. If something interesting happens in two
minutes, you'll know immediatly."
"But something interesting will happen in the next two
minutes." said Q, who was suddenly sitting in Chakotay's
chair, next to Harry.
"Q!" said Harry abruptly. "I'll have to call the Captain..."
"Oh, not so fast, Harris. This time I've come to do her
a favor. I'm sure you of all people have seen the way
she and Mr. Chakotay look at each other."
"Well, yeah, hasn't everybody?"
"I think it's time to play matchmaker between these two.
But, I need help. I thought maybe you could enlist the
senior staff to help me. Could we all meet at say... 2000
in your quarters tomorrow?"
"I guess so..."
"Oh, thank you, Harris! See you tomorrow."
*************
"I suppose, Q, you have a plan?" asked the Doctor.
"That's part of the problem. In can't think of anything.
It's like my brains have been zapped into the Alpha Quadrant."
"That's it!" said Tom.
"What's it?" asked Harry.
"There's an old, kindof childish custom on earth called a
zap."
"The girls on Kessik 4 used to do that... Once they asked
me to do one. They said it was very 'good and nasty.'" said
B'Elanna.
"Well, first you'll have to explain what a zap *is*." said
the Doctor.
"Well, using a pen, you write 'Zap!' and a time of day on
a person's hand. And then, on the other side, you write a
boy or girl's name. If they look at it, they have to
kiss the person." said Tom.
"Are you suggesting we do this to the Captain?" said Tuvok.
"Well... yeah, I guess so." said Tom.
"I love it!" said Q. "Tom, you arrange it. B'Elanna, your
job is to write it. You said you were good..."
**************
"Harry, let me do a zap on you." said Tom.
"Oh, all right." said Harry.
"Gentlemen, would you care to tell me what a 'Zap' is?"
asked Kathryn Janeway.
"Oh, I'll show you, Captain." said B'Elanna.
Kathryn rolled her eyes but complied.
"Ok, Captain, see the time I wrote on your hand?"
"Yes."
"You can't look at your hand until that time, or'll you have
to kiss the person on the other side of your hand at the next
senior briefing."
"B'Elanna! That's five hours from now!"
"I know."
*************
"Is it set up yet, Borgie girl?" asked Q.
"Yes, the computer is set up to watch Captain Janeway at all
hours." said Seven, annoyed with the omniponent joker.
"Oh, goodie!"
*************
"Captain, I have video evidence you looked at your hand before
your arranged time." stated B'Elanna.
"Two minutes early!"
"It still counts."
*Oh, well, thought Kathryn, it's not such a bad fate.* So she
kissed her culprit, who also happened to be her first officer, in
front of her senior staff, and, to her annoyance, Q.
