Using her last bit of energy, Lady Salmakia flew through the window that Will
had cut, the Chevalier Tialys following her. "I'm not going to leave my
body in the world of the dead." she panted to Tialys.
Tialys didn't say anything, only nodded. But even his nod was not as curt as she
remembered it, and the absence of its firm assurance made the Lady shudder
involuntarily.
The two children had stumbled into the new world, let go of the daemons at once,
then collapsed under a rocky cliff and immediately fallen asleep. For the two
Gallavespians it was not so easy. Both knew they were at death's door. They
landed on a sunlit rock and dismounted wearily.
The Chevalier Tialys firstly took the lodestone resonator. He tapped out a brief
message. "It is done." Then he closed it for the last time. He turned
to Lady Salmakia.
No words were needed as they gazed into each others eyes. Finally, Tialys gave a
Gallavespian salute. "Thank you." he said earnestly.
Lady Salmakia returned the gesture. Then she gazed at the world they were in.
"It is so beautiful...." she said sadly, looking at the majestic
forests and rolling plains. They stood taking in the world for a few minutes in
silence. Then, sharing a solemn look with heavy hearts, they lay down side by
side and closed their eyes for the last time.....
