To get the full effect of this, you have to know the musical "Secret Garden". If you've never heard of it, go and check it out from the library, borrow it from a musical theatre buff, or better yet, purchase it for yourself! Anyway, this song is really titled "Lily's Eyes" and I didn't even have to change a lot of the lyrics. It's about two brother's that were in love with the same woman, who is now dead. One brother married her while the other just let his anger fester. Of course, I changed who was doing the singing! Just imagine Harry and James Potter singing about the woman that changed both of their lives.
Strangely quite but now the storm simply rests
To strike again
Standing waiting, I think of her
I think of her
Strange, this Lily
She's left my world, yet remains
She lingers on
Something stirs me to think of her
I think of her
From death she casts her spell
All night you hear her cries
And now you've come to know you have her eyes
You have her eyes.
The boy has Lily's emerald eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
Those eyes that gave him life and hope he'd never known
How can he see the mirror
And miss those emerald eyes
I have her eyes
I have my mother's emerald eyes
Those eyes that closed and left me all alone
Those eyes I fear will never ever let me go
How can see the mirror
And miss those emerald eyes
In Lily's eyes a castle our house seemed to be
And I the bravest knight became
The lady fair was she
He has her eyes
He has my Lily's emerald eyes
Those eyes that looked with love at him and me
Those eyes that always saw me
Always knew I longed to hold her close
And live at last in Lily's eyes
Imagine how she loved me
I longed for the day
We'd live forever happily
Would God had let her stay
JAMES: HARRY:
He has her eyes I have her eyes
He has Lily's emerald eyes My mother's emerald eyes
Those eyes that saw me
Those eyes that first I loved so Happy long ago
HARRY and JAMES:
How can I now forget
That once I dared to be
In love, alive and whole
In Lily's eyes
In Lily's eyes
This really doesn't do it justice. You HAVE to hear this song! It's just perfect! If you listen to this song and aren't amazed at the end, then you probably are deaf!
