Rose walked along the road in Bale. The last thing she remembered was the tree... Being torn from Zeig... She still wasn't sure why she was here. It was amazing that she survived. And then finding the charred body of her beloved Zeig... Lying in the ashes below the tree. She held his hand to her face as he lay dying.
"Promise me..." His voice was weak.
"Anything, my love." Rose's voice had shaken with emotion.
"Promise me that you will take care of my son." He then breathed his last breath. Rose buried him. She stood over his grave, staring at the moon. After Melbu Frahma had been defeated, the moon had somehow climbed back into the sky. Rose knew then what she must do. Destroy the Moon Child. Perhaps then, she would have the peace she had so long craved. She had almost reached the palace when the palace guards intercepted her.
"Excuse me, miss. The king is not receiving anybody today." She removed her hood and turned her stony glance to his face. She had aged considerably. Her hair had grown longer. Now it was almost to her waist. Her eyes where almost swollen with the tears she could not cry.
"Oh! Lady Rose! I'm so sorry! I didn't realize..."
"I know you didn't. And I'm not 'Lady' Rose." Rose continued her walk forward. When she reached the throne room, she was not surprised to see Emile sitting on the king's right side. She spared her a short glance.
"A moment of your time, Your Majesty." Albert stood, shocked.
"Rose! But how?..." She waved her hand in impatience.
"It does not matter how I am here, only why. May I speak with you privately?" He nodded, his beautiful hazel eyes wide. Emile looked like she was about to protest, but Albert rubbed her arm. Emile stood, her nose in the air, and swept past Rose, her pink frilly skirts flipping.
"Rose." Albert swept to her side, clasping the arms of his lost comrade. She pulled away, and almost smiled apologetically. Albert tried to smile.
"How are you? And how are you here?" Rose started pacing.
"I see that you and Emile have wed. Are you happy." It seemed more of a challenge than a question.
"Of course. She is expecting our first child in May." Rose nodded. Albert could not take it any longer.
"Rose, why are you here?" She whirled around, her violet eyes meeting his.
"Where is she?" She demanded. Albert frowned, puzzled.
"Who?"
"Don't play games with me Albert! We've been through too much together for you to act like this!" She spat.
"Rose, I honestly don't know who you are talking about!"
"The Moon Child! Where is she?!"
"Shana?" Albert was puzzled.
"Yes, Shana!" Rose seethed. Her teeth gleamed like fangs. Albert shook his head.
"Rose, it's over! Shana is human again!" Rose's eyes widened.
"You don't get it, do you? It will never be over! She is still carrying the God of Destruction!" Albert's frown grew upon his face.
"It's been one year, Rose!"
"It doesn't matter, fool! The god will lay in stasis for as long as he can, then the blood of the world will be shed! The Moon Child must die!" A hissing of wind was heard behind her. Rose turned... And gasped when she saw who the Wingly was.
"Lloyd?" And then she passed out from exhaustion.
