Until We Part Our Ways

By Kainen

A pale light he is,

A head touched by angels

His locks so golden they shine with inner brilliance

Help him I must,

Protect him I will

*

Soldiers about, a squadron I see

Gun toting fools that must be taught a lesson

Their teacher I will be

They will learn not to manipulate. . .

. . .to destroy all that is within

*

Two of five fall before my sword,

Dripping a red ocean of colour

I look to the others. . .shall we tango?

Who will die this day?

I or they?

*

Two of three fire their breath of fury,

Cold iron reflects sparks of light upon steel

Behind my guard I move forward

A soldier comes to greet me,

Ambition pulling his nose

*

I twist to meet his arrival,

My partner, glistening wet, ends his pitiful life

Parts fly, blood flows - I smile

But my glory, sadly, ends with cold teeth biting into my chest,

Tearing me apart

*

Falling back, my sword leaves me - the sky darkens above

I am drilled with more holes. . .more pain,

Blood pours from me in an unending river

Rain falls - the heavens are crying

Mixing my blood with black dirt

*

As life leaves my body with each beat of heart,

I ask why my being was given for another

The answer, as old as stars, forges in my mind

I love him,

My "brother". . .my Cloud
