One Star

Warning! Quit now if you do not like zelphie.

It was one week after the defeat of Ultimecia. Everything was once again normal in Balamb Garden. Eighteen year old Zell Dincht was still as usual, eating dozens of hotdogs, usually ended up choking. Squall and Rinoa were engaged. Irvine and Selphie...hard to say...ever since Selphie caught Irvine with another girl, she had been going bonkers and ignoring Irvine since.

"Selphie! Please listen to me!" Irvine said for the ten thousandth times. Selphie stormed out of the library, "It's all over between us Irvine. YOU AND I ARE QUITS! GET IT? NOW GET LOST!" Irvine stood still as he stared at the running Selphie going out of Balamb Garden. Deciding to follow her, Irvine walked towards her direction as Zell came humming towards him. "Hiya Irvine! Whatcha doing?"

"Sefie...angry 'bout me." Irvine said, putting his hands on his hips. Zell put a hand on his shoulders, "I think it's better for her to cool down. After all, woman are like that." Irvine nodded and walked off back to the cafeteria. Zell hesistated for a second before rushing to the balcony. He immediately caught sight of Selphie. "Hey there Selph." Selphie turned around, "Hi...Zell." "Whatcha doing?" "Just thinking."

"Of?" Selphie sighed heavily, "Irvine...and me." Zell grinned, "Actually, it isn't hard." Selphie looked at him, "How about that?" "Well, if you love him dearly, any woman wouldn't spoil your mood like that." Selphie thought for a moment, "But...i don't even know whether i like him." Zell was taken aback, "What? You mean...you only pretended to like him all the while?"

Selphie shrugged, "I'm not sure. I get jealous when he goes for another girl. But i don't know if that can prove that i still like Irvine." Zell sighed, "So what are you gonna do?" Selphie stared at the stars above and her eyes widened at the sight of one big star, "Hey look at that!" She pointed to the shining star. Zell grinned, "Uh-huh. That's what i call...a gleamer of hope. It's trying to tell you...that you just look inside your heart and you will find a way."

Selphie stared at the star, "Really?" Zell chuckled, "Not really sure. But i always believe in stars...since my grandpa too." Selphie looked at Zell, "How's your grandpa like?" Zell smiled, "Very great...you won't believe how great he is. He taught me a lot while he was still alive. Being kind to the needy. Helpful...alot." Zell stared up to the sky, "I miss him alot." Selphie smiled and put a hand on his shoulder.

"I know how you feel. It's sad losing someone so close to you." Selphie said. Zell smiled, "That's why i want to be like him. A brave and honourable warrior." Selphie nodded, "Yep."

Faraway, a clock chimed midnight...

And a shooting star streaked across the sky...
