Chain of Events


When you are young, you swear you won't ever treat anyone the way you are

You promise to never become what he was,

You promise that you'll never become like the monster you hate

You promise to treat people like they should be

You say that no matter what else happens, you will remember

You will remember what it felt like to be treated so

You will remember every scar, and every harsh word

And you will always hate him for what he has done to you

So you get older, you see how the world works

You see how cruel it can be

And it reminds you of what you have been through

What you have been through

You see all the pain and suffering

And you swear to find a way to end it all

You get a chance to

Save the world I mean

So you do, you stand up for all those children

Because you don't want them to suffer like you have

Now the world is almost perfect

You fall into love with the perfect person

And you get married

You have some kids

And you promise to be a good parent

But the bitterness in your heart

It eats away at you

And you strike your kid

You didn't mean to

But you did

You are dying inside

And you feel so guilty

Because no matter how many times you promised yourself

You became him
