"Bingo!" Langly turned his laptop around in triumph. "Fanworks.org!"
"Great!" Byers walked over to inspect.
Jimmy was excited. "What? What did you find?"
"We got an email today from one of our readers," Frohike answered. "It appears our newspaper has quite a following. We've got our own section in a popular fanfiction website." He looked very pleased with himself.
Jimmy's face lit up, then looked confused. "What's fanfiction?"
Byers looked up from the screen. "It's stories written by fans about their favorite movies, books ... I don't know, just about anything, really. In this case, it's their favorite newspaper."
"Whoa ... hey, what about t.v. shows?"
"Sure, those too."
"Great! You know, I always thought Gilligan and Mary Ann would make a great couple, but they never got together on the show." Jimmy rushed over to the computer. "Do they have any Gilligan fanfiction in there?"
Langly put his arms protectively around the computer. "C'mon, man, fanfiction is more sophisticated than that. Nobody wants to read cliche romance stories."
Jimmy's face fell, and he shuffled over to the couch.
Byers smacked Langly on the arm.
"Ow! Hey!"
"Jimmy, when we're done you can check out the Gilligan's Island section," Byers said. "It looks like it has ..." He raised his eyebrows. "20,187 stories!"
"No way!" Frohike took a look. "I can't believe it. Just how many stories can you write about Gilligan's Island? How many do we have?"
"I don't know, I can't find it for some reason," Langly answered. "Here's the newspaper section, and there are the "L's", but no Lone Gunman. I can't believe it, we were gypped."
No, it has to be there somewhere," Byers said. "Are you sure you're looking in the right category?"
"Hey, you know what would be a great idea for a story?" Jimmy said from the couch. "Say they actually got off the island for real. What would happen to them next?" The Gunmen gave him a blank look. "Come on, guys! Think of the possibilities!"
The three men turned back to the site. "This is the only place it could be in. I mean, it couldn't be in Anime or Comic Books," Langly said.
"A comic book, now that would be cool," Frohike said thoughtfully.
"Or, maybe I could write one where Gilligan is dying from something and everybody's really sad ..."
"Jimmy, that's great brainstorming and all, but we're kinda busy here," Frohike said.
"Did you try looking under "T"?" the jock asked shyly.
"What?"
"Well, The Lone Gunman starts with a "T" for "The", so the website could have put it under that."
"Jimmy, nobody but you files things starting with "The" under "T"," Frohike replied, thinking of "The Grassy Knoll".
Jimmy turned back to the t.v. "It was just a suggestion."
"Ummm, guys ..." Byers and Frohike looked over Langly's shoulder. Sure enough, there was The Lone Gunman filed right above The Magic Bullet.
"How many stories?"
"One."
"Well, give it time, it's new," Byers reassured his colleagues.
Frohike frowned at the screen. "Hey, why is it rated NC-17?"
