Racing to the Finish

Racing to the Finish

a initial D/ surprise crossover

* * * * * *

Shifting gears, Takumi felt the rear of his car starting to slide, downshifting then up shifting, he tapped the gas peddle, making sure the RPM gauge was as close to 11 k-rpm as possible.

With the new turbo engine and racing wheels, the Panda Tuerno Hachi-Roku with the Fujiwara Tofu Shop logo on its side combined with his driving skills made it the fastest downhill road racer.

With the straight away coming up, Takumi spun the wheel to the left, forcing the AE86 to come out of the drift.  Not matter what he did; he could not beat his opponent.  *The man's skill at corner was absolutely amazing.  The man had no fear,* Takumi thought, *I would never be brave enough to perform the moves that he is doing.  Imagine, being beaten by an underpowered vehicle.  He has so much skill that I have yet to see him brake in anyway.*

Smiling, Takumi gave it all he got.  In an uphill battle, he knew his opponent had no chance but downhill was different, especially on courses with steep hills, Takumi finally smiled.

Drifting had become second nature and so on the next drift, Takumi closed his eyes and remembered the first time he actually lose and the result was the death of the AE86's first engine, the stock model.

"There is one thing you have to learn, Takumi," his father said.

"What is that?" he asked.

"You have to learn to lose.  There are racers out there with unparallel skills and some day you will meet one of them."

"I don't understand."

"You will."

"So I have finally met my match," Takumi smiled.  "It was getting a little boring, winning all my races for three years after the turbo engine."

Flashing his head lights and slowing down, AE86 finally acknowledge a racer of higher caliber.  Event he crowd could not believe what they just witnessed.

Takumi's opponent gave no notice as he soared into the horizon, shouting "STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY!" the entire time.  With no rear view mirror, Kintaro Oe, age 25, did not notice the flashing high beam.  With the way he had been cornering, the brakes on his bike were broken and so he had no way to stop either.

As he disappeared his legend grew, Kintaro Oe, GOLDEN BOY.
