While You Sleep

While you sleep by EdenAdvance

Spoilers: A Human Reaction (before the Canadian Scene)

Disclaimer: I don't own Farscape, so please no suing? Hey, you actually write it like that? Anyways, if you sue, I wouldn't be able to buy my own TV and VCR (and I have this boring job, so don't make me work harder) and then I can't see enough Farscape, which is bad for the ones who do own Farscape. (Not me!)

Feedback: Please? I'm a feedback-monster...

Archiving: At Nat's site and the Farscape Zone, Sabine's site, the rest: ask me (don't worry, I don't bite. But there's a chance my dog does.)

While You Sleep

As I watch out of the window, my eyes catch your reflection, lying asleep in the bed. I smile as I remember the night before. I feel like it is the first time I really saw the real you, not hiding behind your humor, as you mostly do when we're on the ship, in the presence of others. I saw a glimpse of that before, when we were stuck in the Flax. Why do we always need to be in danger to really see the real us, to really get to know eachother?

I sit down next to you, and still you don't awake. You must be exhausted, I can see it on your face. I wonder if you're dreaming, but when I hear you whisper something, I know you must be. Now, I wonder what you're dreaming. I look at the maps, spread out on the table and I decide I have some more time before I have to come up with a solution. I smile at that thought. Half a cycle ago, I wouldn't have thought like that, survival has always come before anything else. But now, when I watch you sleep, I want to be where you are, still asleep, not having to face the day and the problems it brings.

I lay down, my head on your shoulder and I feel your arm tightening around me. It feels familiar to me, and I know why. We're lying the same way as when I woke up. The same way as when we fell asleep, somewhere late last night...

I sit still as you lay your head on my shoulder, not knowing how I should respond. But as your face comes closer, I lean into you. As we pull apart again, I gaze into your blue eyes. This time there's no D'Argo to interrupt us, and somehow the thought frightens me. As you kiss me again, you pull me down with you. Suddenly, as if burned by fire, you sit up again. I know I have a questioning and maybe even hurt look in my eyes when I watch you.

"It's going to fast, Aeryn." You say. "It's not that I don't want to, but hell... you're an alien. We don't know what'll happen if we... or what'll happen tomorrow. It's just... I think we should wait until we're safe." You explain and I agree with it. Slowly I nod my head and move to lie on my side. As you lie down next to me, on your back, you pull me next to you and I lie my head on your shoulder...

The End.
