A/N: Oh dear! Three years later and I'm just now getting around to fixing the formatting. Anyhoo, for those of you that care, I no longer use this account, and instead write my stories under the pen name Mimiko. Also, for those of us still in love with the first season of Digimon, it airs at seven PM on Toon Disney on weekdays! Isn't that exciting? I'd just about given up hope...
Joe looked at the mysterious creature before him. It was small, pink, and cute. He picked it up and looked it in the eye.
"Hi!" he said.
Its eyes grew big and it giggled. He smiled, and took it to his apartment. He went to his mom who was washing the dishes.
"Mama!" he said, "Looky! Can I keep her?"
Mrs. Kido turned and screamed. The plate she was drying left her hands, fell to the floor, and shattered into hundreds of tiny white pieces. Her son was holding a baby girl in his arms! Her mind thought rapidly. 'What do I do? Where will I put it? What will John say?' She got out Joe's old baby things and sat the girl down in the crib she had found. 'We'll have to tell someone we have it...' She heard the door open and saw her eldest son Jim. "
Jim, Joe has a new 'pet' and I need you to talk to him before your father gets home."
Jim nodded and went into his brother's room. His blue haired sibling was holding a toy above some pink bundle in his lap. He could have sworn the blanket moved. He dismissed it as his imagination.
"I hear you have a new pet. Where is he?"
"It's a she." Jim raised an eyebrow and said, "Why is it so dark in here?"
He reached for the light switch and flicked it. He then saw a baby girl asleep in Joe's lap.
"Joe, where did you get that?!" he exclaimed.
oe brought a finger to his lips and pointed outside.
"Her name is Mimi," Joe said.
"How do you know her name?" Jim asked.
His little brother pointed to the blanket the two-year old was clutching. Embroidered in pink thread was 'Mimi Tachikawa'
"Joe, she probably has an owner already ya know?"
But Joe wasn't listening. She had woken up and was pulling Joe's nose. Joe put his glasses on her and held her up towards Jim.
"Look!"
Jim smirked. She looked cute with her magnified eyes blinking rapidly. Jim gently took her from Joe's arms. She sniffled and started to cry."
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"Jim panicked.
"Mom!" he screamed.
Mrs. Kido rushed in and tried to quite the screaming child.
"Let me see her." Joe pleaded.
Finally, Mrs. Kido handed the baby to her son. The glasses had fallen off of Mimi's face but her eyes were still rather large. She looked at Joe, giggled, and pulled his nose again.
"See! Mimi likes me!"
"Mimi?" Mrs. Kido asked.
Joe pointed to the blanket. 'Tachikawa... I passed a doorplate that said Tachikawa this morning..' Mrs. Kido thought. She looked at Mimi, who was back asleep, clutching one of Joe's old stuffed rabbits. She took the girl from Joe's arms and walked around Highton View Terrace Apartments until seeing a Tachikawa doorplate. She knocked lightly, fearing she'd wake the baby. She was greeted by a crying woman.
Mrs.Kido spoke up, "Hi, I'm Emilia, I was wondering if you lost a baby girl?"
The woman looked at the child asleep in Mrs.Kido's arms and her tears of sorrow became tears of joy. She nodded and took her daughter. Mimi woke up and looked at her mother.
"Joe..." she said looking around.
The girl's mother gasped. Mrs. Kido spoke up.
"Joe. that's my son's name. He's the one who found her."
Mrs. Tachikawa nodded and looked at her daughter once more.
"It's Mimi's first word."
