Palantir
Past and present, here and now,
Time and future; will allow
Kings of noble past to see:
Things of timeless mystery,
Wars and battles, friend or foe,
Peace and lovers, high and low,
Verdant forests of Mirkwood,
Nazgul hidden in his hood.
Pale crystal spheres of yore
Lost to all of Elven lore.
Seven stars and seven stones,
Hidden deep amidst the bones
Of towers, ancient-built
Upon the Valar's guilt.
Far-seer, were they called;
Across the boundless sea were hauled
The stones from ageless Valinor,
Where winged Elwing still does soar.
A watch the stones kept from afar,
Of lands that Sauron much did mar;
Of mortal and immortal folk,
Of ash and birch and aged oak.
In Middle-Earth the stones do dwell,
In crystal mere and mist-filled dell.
