A Soldier's Poem

A Soldier's Poem

How many times have I looked at these blood-stained battlefields and wondered,

Is this right?

How many times have I pulled the trigger and wondered,

Is this right?

How many graveyards have I filled and wondered,

Is this right?

How many people cry at night, for the lives I took away

And cry out loud this silent message,

Is t his fair?

To have lived life as only a puppet, I wonder,

Is this fair?

To be programmed to only obey, I wonder,

Is this fair?

To be able to feel, nothing, left empty inside, I wonder

Is this fair?

To be left with the angry voices of those whom lives I had destroyed and hurt, I wonder,

Is this fair?

And to have been dealt this damnable hand, a life not of my own. I wonder,

Is this fair?
