Prologue

Katniss stared into the darkness. She was pretty much surrounded by it; her eyes were closed, and she felt like a prisoner. Her hair was tied back, and she knew it wasn't from anything she'd used, and the room smelt like dog poop. She hated the smell. It made her feel bad, and she wanted to throw up.

She had no idea how she'd gotten here. All she did was go into the seams and tried to make a fire, she did not do anything stupid. It's not like she made anything illegal. The Capitol's rule is when you make something illegal, you can't go back.

So if Katniss did anything that stupid, she would not even be able to go back to her mistake.

She looked at herself in the mirror and whispered Prim's name. "Prim. I love you, and I miss you…I need you. Please don't leave me when I get home." Her eyes started welling up with tears.

"I need to escape." She said as she looked at her surroundings, she noticed a firewood that was near her. She held it to her chest and lit it up, a capitol guard was watching. As soon as he saw he went over to her, and asked her a question.

His head was swirling with thoughts, "I…I…I can explain." She tried to say, "save it girl, you belong in the Capitol prison."

"But—I."

"No buts!"

"Sorry."

"Don't say sorry either."

Katniss looked around and noticed the prison guard looked familiar, and it made her worried. She opened her pocket knife and started to untie herself so she could get herself free.

She ended up getting down, and she ended up escaping. Thoughts started going into her head.

What if I don't make it home? What if Prim starves, what if she dies? And what if…what if…

It was all just what if thoughts, she did not want to die…She didn't.

Her life was on the line.
