The Nature Off The Beast
Disclaimer: I don't own Whistle Down The Wind. The original novel belongs to Mary Bell, but that is basically irrelevant because this story has absolutely nothing to do with the book; I'm actually choosing to ignore everything said in the book. This story is based on the musical, which is Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece.
Notes: The Man's POV
_ "The emptiest words that there'll ever be, it could've been me, it could've been me."
Swallow. She was so sweet, so completely innocent, and so wrong for me. And yet hers is one of the few names that I will ever remember with fondness. Brat, Poor Baby, Winston, Elizabeth, they all made a mark on my heart for the brief time that I knew them, but especially Swallow. I'm still in love with her. Even after fifteen years I am still in love with her. If not for the lies that I told her I would have gone back, stayed with her forever. But that is an idol fantasy, happiness I will never experience. She... she married Amos, the thieving bastard. I know, I've been watching her. For years now I've been watching her, making sure she was safe. I've followed her everywhere she's gone, lurking in the shadows were she can't see. If Amos were ever to hurt her, he would be dead in an instant. I've heard her talk... she still thinks that I'm Jesus! Not true, but perhaps... perhaps I am her guardian Angel.
