Sineater asks: For Whumptober, 11. Self Done First Aid – Kayo

Characters: Kayo

Warnings: Gunshot wound, Blood

Kayo loved her job. Every aspect of her job. Security expert for International Rescue led her to work in many different fields.

Undercover was her favourite, but she was acutely aware that Scott was not fully in favour even as he granted her the leeway to do her job properly. Because doing her job kept her brothers safe and Scott knew it.

Of course, undercover jobs didn't always go to plan, and this one was no different.

She didn't know what or who had tipped off the thugs. Kayo was pretty sure her source of information was secure but who could tell for sure in this day and age.

What mattered was that currently she was in hiding. The low building that she had been in was overrun with armed guards and she had taken a bullet to her arm. It had sliced through her upper left arm and while it had not broken her bone directly, the shockwave had.

The only thing Kayo was thankful for was that she had been shot before entering the building. The downside to this was she was now camping out in the hollow of an old giant redwood, bleeding.

She closed her eyes and lay her head back. Thank goodness Scott had insisted that one of her pouches had a miniature first aid kit. The tiny bandages were activated on contact, expanding enough to keep the wound under pressure until proper treatment could be given.

Wrapping said bandage around her upper arm wasn't easy but, using her teeth and contorting herself awkwardly, she managed to get the bandage secure.

Kayo sighed in relief. The pressure was already making the pain bearable. With a shaky, bloody hand she activated her beacon.

Then she held her breath. The sounds of dogs barking carried over the air. Kayo struggled to her feet. Scott was fast, but he wouldn't be fast enough.

They were coming.

Coming for her.
