"No!" she said for the ultimate time. "This is not a joke for
me Angel. This is my job, and if I have to fight you in order to get out there
and save his ass, I'll sure do it!"
Buffy looked even more beautiful when she got angry. Even now, in her fifth
month of pregnancy she looked small and cute. But not even her shining eyes
would eb able to convince Angel to let her go out like this. Especially to
save some asshole... especially to save Riley.
"Buffy, let's be reasonable, babe. Faith is already on her way to help
us and..."
She raised her hand and didn't allow him to end the sentence.
"Last time she met him, she fu... Well, we better let it go!" and
with a quick and strong movement she freed herself from his grasp and fled
outside. Angel took a deep breath.
"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
She's always gone too long
Anytime she goes away"
"Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
This time just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away"
Ever since they got married, Riley had been a real gentleman, never talking
to Buffy in any intimate way. When he decided to stay in Sunnydale to help
Giles and the gang Angel felt a little restless, but Riley came to talk to
him and told him that a pregnant slayer was not that useful. That was when
he suggested that Angel should call Faith to help them.
Deep down inside, Angel knew he had nothing to fear. Buffy was his... forever,
for all the eternity. He was her angel, and she... she was his slayer. No
Riley nor Faith could ever change that, but still he was jealous, almost wishing
that it was him that were kidnapped. Besides, he knew Faith could handle the
situation.
"I know, I know, I know..."
But Buffy had to go there and leave him brooding with these miserable dark
thoughts.
"Can't leave the young thing alone
Ain't no sunshine...
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Only darkness everyday
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
This house just ain't no home
Any time she goes away"
Once again he took a deep breath - so normal now - and turned around, grabbing
his duster and the car keys. He was going after her to help her save Riley's
life. After all, Spike held Riley prisoner and Spike would always be his responsibility.
On the other hand the mere thought of Buffy and Riley alone in a darkened
room sent shivers up and down his spine.
Ain't no sunshine...
