A/N: Ooh, I'm gonna get my butt kicked for doing this to Pietro!

The others he didn't particularly mind, actually. THEM. They were actually pretty cool, by his standards. But if you have one enemy in that group, they all hate you.

Pietro Maximoff was not used to being hated.

The others, those X-Men... Kitty, Kurt, Jean, Scott, that new guy, Alex, and even that Logan guy and that Professor X dude, they were all cool. Pietro had a feeling that he'd be their friend...

... If it wasn't for Evan.

Evan...

And it wasn't just the X-Men. Pietro was of the type that would be known as "preppie," but that's not how people saw him. "That guy from-what school was it?-with a criminal record." It made Pietro want to cry. He wasn't used to being considered one of the bad guys...

'Am I a bad guy?'

... Does anybody ever think of himself as the bad guy?

When it really comes down to it, if you think about the Revolutionary War, the Americans were the bad guys. Sure, they were fighting for their freedom, but England was just fighting for their country...

And perhaps it was that reasoning that made Pietro Maximoff a bad guy...

'I'm a good guy, really!'

Good guys don't have criminal records.

Pietro Maximoff was an adreniline junkie, that sort of happened when you lived life at the pace he did. His mutant power was Speed, and he thrived on it. But life at his old school in New York had been getting dull, and he'd felt the need to kick things up a little faster. And he'd seen the chance when Evan had...

... Evan...

... ...

Spyke...

"Daniels," Pietro snarled aloud. He flung his fist at his bedroom door. "DANIELS!"

The silver-haired boy dropped to the floor and sobbed in his hands.

"We were best friends, Evan," he said through bitter tears. "So why'd ya have to betray me, huh?"
