Red and white tape were surrounding the whole crime scene. Moving with the strong wind and glistering wet from the rain.
Cops and news reporters were doing their work without getting too much into each others ways.
For the first time in a very long time, the two groups were in harmony with each other.
No snapping. No yelling at each other for being alive. No stress caused anger from the case at hands.
Just the sounds of an angry gunman being guided away from the crime-scene.
A soft annoyed voice. Who was successfully but unintended covering up the sounds of a body-bag being closed.
Photo's were being snapped.
Discussions being made.
Just to make sure every thing was as it was supposed to be. But nobody worried about it. The case was almost officially closed. And it would take more then a miracle to chance that outcome.
Jim and Blair had solved another case, once again. 'And... ' Blair thought. 'It had been a good solve.'
They had been awfully lucky though. The number of possible innocent victims had been huge but no vicitms had been made besides the head of the drugs organization. And his henchman were currently on their way to prison to be denied sunlight for a very long time.
The stress, that had been around over the last couple of weeks, had completely vanished now the case had been closed.
It brought a smile to Blair's face to see cops and news-reporters once again accepting each other by their sides.
The annoyance had disappeared. Making room for more important stuff. Like acceptance, understanding and respect.
The rain was still silently falling. Hardly soaking anyone in the progress but the dark clouds made sure that the crime-scene still looked grim. Painting the sidewalk and people gray due lack of light.
But it didn't matter, and it wouldn't matter till another case presented itself.
Everybody was being content with the good day's work. Not something that happened on a regular base, but had just been. They had done their job right.
Jim was giving his report to Simon. His voice was sounding gruff like usual but today it had a newfound lightness that could hardly be noticed. Blair smiled. They had done okay.
Rafe was talking to the witness that had helped breaking the case, wrapping a blanket around her shoulder as they sat there on the sidewalk.
She looked more relaxed then she had ever been the few weeks she had worked with the cascade police. And Blair was happy to notice she had finally opened up a bit about what had happened.
He had wondered for a long time, if he was truly happy with the kind of life he was leading.
He had been confused at the moment and doubting everything.
But he wasn't right now though.
Everything was right.
The way it should be.
The way it would be.
And Blair didn't regret one thing he had done in his past.
"It feels good, huh?" His partner had joined him at his side.
"Yeah Jim, it does."
Jim stands next too him, watching the sun breaking trough the clouds.
"It can't always be like this, though."
"Yeah I know Jim. But times like this make worth everything to live for."
"Yeah I know. Let's get home Chief, our work here is done."
'Just for today Jim.. Just for today.'
