The Ordinary
Disclaimer: I don't own anything someone else already owns.
They don't want me.
That is my only thought as I look at all the trainers walk past. They have their cute Sentrets, their Pidgeys, and some, Chikoritas and Cyndaquils. But I'm so plain. So...ordinary.
No one really likes bug Pokemon. Not little ones like me. They want the rare Scythers and Pinsirs and Yanmas, they don't have time for little Caterpies like me. I try and prove that I can be really powerful. But most trainers just battle me for experience, not for keeps.
One day a new trainer shows up with his friends. I hear them talking and find that his name is James. His friend, that girl, her name is Jessie. They have a Meowth. There's no way they want a Caterpie like me. But I step onto the path anyway, hoping...
"Ew, gross, go away, you disgusting little bug, ew!" yells the girl, Jessie. James jumps in front of her.
"Don't worry, Jessie, I'll protect you!" He releases a Pokemon. "Go, Weezing!!" The Weezing appears, and I want to run. But somehow I know I have to prove myself. I will fight this Weezing.
"You fight too, Arbok!" calls Jessie, and now I face two Pokemon, both poison-types. There's no way I can win. But I have to try.
"Weezing, Smokescreen!" calls James.
"Arbok, Wrap, then Poison Sting!" yells Jessie. Their Meowth jumps in and starts biting and scratching me. I try to fight, but it's just too much.
It begins to rain. Jessie and James call back their Pokemon and walk away, leaving me there. It feels like...like it's all over.
But then, I feel someone lifting me up. Protecting me from the rain. I open my eyes to look into the face of a girl. She covers me with the rain jacket she is wearing, and calls on her Ditto to transform into a bicycle. Still holding on to me, she jumps on the bicycle, and begins to pedal very fast.
"You'll be Ok, Caterpie," she says to me, and pedals faster.
I try to stay awake, to know where she's taking me, but I'm just too weak, and my world goes black.
It is some time later when I finally wake up. When I open my eyes, I see the face of the same girl from before, smiling now. Also the face of a lady, with red hair in pigtails.
Where am I? I want to ask, but I don't even have the strength to try to speak. I drift back asleep, exhausted.
Over the next few days, the girl talks to me, about how she wants to be the best trainer ever, and has a dream of becoming the Indigo League Champion. She talks about her Pokemon, and the evil people known as Team Rocket, which those two humans Jessie and James were part of.
Finally, I am well again, and the girl takes me outside. Then she tells me a secret. I am a rare-color Pokemon, violet and gold instead of the usual green and orange. Then she leans down to my level and grants me my deepest wish.
"Caterpie," she asks, "would you like to be my Pokemon?" I jump into her arms, and she laughs. "I guess that means yes," she says, and I jump back down and nod.
"Caterpie," I say, which means Definitely yes!.
"Ok, then," she says, and pulls out a poke' ball. She pushes the button, and I feel a strange light surrounding me. I am pulled inside the poke' ball, and I discover that there is no place I'd rather be.
Thank you, my new trainer. Thank you, Erin, for accepting me as your Pokemon.
