Chapter 1

There was nothing quite like waking up and making the first cup of coffee in the morning. The sweet smell coming from the steam that wafted into her nose as she drew another sip. Sounds of birds outside fluttering their wings and chirping before starting their own morning routines. Sun slowly rising over the snow tipped peaks that surrounded her home, what more could she ask out of a morning? That is if she had been at home right now experiencing those things. But where was Zorina, that was a good question.

She pealed her face off of the forest floor and looked in every direction. An urge to release everything in her stomach came fast and she saw everything she ate for dinner moment later. When did I eat corn...? she thought, thoroughly confused by this. The thought why don't bodies process corn...quickly came after but she pushed it away, being too focused on how much of last night she did not recall.

Zornia rolled over, back now on the ground and grunt as she sat forward. Then she started going over everything she did remember from yesterday starting with breakfast.

"Hunted in the Northern Forest, ate a deer, burned down that barbarian village, ate the Chieftan, transformed into her human form, went to the tavern, had some drinks with the locals, burned the place down, ate the bartender...maybe one of them had corn..." everything seemed normal enough in her opinion. She recalled going home after that and running into her father.

Reality struck her when she remembered her father wanted her to marry some shmuck from a few mountains over. She had flown away! In the mist of flying away she heard her father yell out a curse, something about humanoids. Zorina looked down at her hands, they were human. Had he cursed her to remain in her human form? No, he wouldn't do that, no matter how angry!

She looked around, listening for the sound of a river. When she located one Zorina rushed to it and looked at her reflection in the crystal water. Fucking HUMAN! How DARE he! her thoughts fueled by rage. How could he do this to her? He knew she only left her Dragon form when she was drinking, Zorina was a proud Gold Dragon. Quickly remembering that's why she was so mad about the arrangement, the Dragon he wanted her to marry was a Silver Dragon. As if she would lower herself to a Silver Dragon.

Silver Dragons were nothing but obsessed with strength, they were basically Barbarians of the Dragon Kingdoms, and she wanted nothing more than to dispose of them. He specifically was going to marry her off to the Prince of the Silver Dragons, Casaalit the Vicious, who was known to be nothing more than a blood thirsty animal. Pun most definably intended. She had never met the man in person, but she heard enough about him from other Dragons during reunions. Reunions the Silver Clan refused to show up to.

Zornia scoffed to no-one, sure she killed but she never killed people who didn't deserve it. The Barbarians she hunted the other day had been stealing women and children, raping the women and using the children as slaves. They deserved to be burned alive in her opinion. The Tavern she went to had been supplying the Barbarians with information on which towns had lower guards and were making a profit from their attacks. It was pathetic, humans were pathetic in general. When she had burned the Tavern down, everyone that had been innocent left due to her warnings.

The Silver Dragons hunted humans for sport, like it was a game to them. They mercilessly killed innocent people in Dragon or Human form, whatever got the job done. Zornia would be dead before she married into that Clan.

She splashed some water on her face only to realize she was completely naked, and it reminded her that she was in the middle of nowhere. Now would be the best time to bathe and removed the smell of vomit from her long golden hair. She walked into the water and submerged her entire body in the cold. It had been a long time since she last bathed in her human form, so she often forgot how long her hair was. While wet it reached an inch or so passed her rear, when it was dry it was right above it. Zorina may have hated being in her human form for too long, but she didn't hate her human form all together. She thought she was quite attractive, tan skin, large gold eyes, voluptuous shape. Her face had high cheek bones, plump pink lips and a small button nose. By all human standards she was attractive, by Dragon standards she looked like dinner. She hoped she didn't run into any Dragons she knew, if they caught wind of her Fathers betrayal she would be in for some mockery.

It was lucky for her though, since she was a High Dragon, she still had magical abilities in her current form and could easily figure out how to get home. If she could only figure out where she was first and also how she even got there.

A rustle came from a bush across the river, Zornia jerked her head in that direction and her hands quickly lit in flames. The last thing she needed was someone sneaking up on her, lest it mean her heightened hearing would not work while human. Whatever it was that made the sound had not seen her, she was sure a naked woman conjuring fire would have made someone at least yelp.

Zornia lowered her hands into the water and began swimming away to hide behind some rocks and observed what was coming to the river. The footsteps were further away than she thought, good her hearing hadn't been failing her yet. First a horse stepped out from the trees, not wild as there was a saddle on its back and a man hidden on the other side. It was a surprisingly large horse, black from head to hoof. When the horse put his head down to drinking from the water she saw the man, barely as he was wearing heavy armor.

When did humans start wearing armor like that? It was black and silver, covering every inch of his body including his face. Large black metal pauldrons covered his shoulders as silver chainmail followed his arms down only to be covered by black metal gloves. His chest plate had what looked like a dragon on it, she thought Dragon slayer most likely. This could be good for her if it meant she was near more dragons.

She continued her onslaught of looks after peering away to think for a moment. When she turned back, she realized he had taken off his helm and much to her surprised he wasn't bad looking for a human. He had long black hair that went down to the middle of his back, his eyes appeared to be almost silver but were clearly blue and he had a very defined jawline with no facial hair. What she found strange was the number of piercings he had, two on his left nostril, two on his right eyebrow and what looked like three on each ear.

Luckily, he had been moving around the horse gathering up items, so she was able to observe him further. She hadn't been near a human like this before.

"You've had enough Lil, we need to keep going if we're going to make it there by sunset." His voice was low and course with an unfamiliar accent she couldn't place. The horse huffed in response as he sniffed his owner. "Ugh, fine I'll bathe and then we leave."

The man began taking off his armor, Zorina looked away she felt like she could just die right there. She didn't want to get caught and him think she was a pervert; humans were weird about nudity whereas Dragon couldn't care less because we were always naked.

She heard a splash and quickly devised a plan of escape or at least if she got caught it looked like she never noticed him. There was about fifty feet between them, the moment he fully submerged himself and began quietly retreating from the river. When she looked over to his horse, Zorina noted the man was still under water and she quickly rung out her hair and started to walk into the forest hoping she'd never had to interact with him.

Lil, his horse, neighed at her and she lifted a finger to her mouth as if he'd shush on command. Strangely enough that's exactly what he did but not before his owner popped halfway out of the water and made complete eye contact with her. None of them said a word and both looked like a deer caught in a hunter's trap. Zorina decided the best way to deal with this was to just run and that's exactly what she did.

As she sprinted into the woods, she heard him yell "WAIT!" followed by rustling of what she assumed was his armor. What she wouldn't kill to be able to transform right now and just fly home to be in her horde. Just as she was about to jump off a conveniently placed cliff and cast Floating disk to descend into an unsuspecting town below a very large hand grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back over the edge.
