"Bah blah blah!"

"Yards yards yadda!"

"Drone drone drone!"

These were all that young Anakin Skywalker was able to hear going on and on with no end in sight. The youngstet slumped in his chair with a fed up expression on his face. These weren't the sounds he'd been expecting to hear in his future. He'd thought he would be surrounded by the exhilarating sounds of starships flying, lasers blasting and lightsabers clashing against one another. Never did he think his Jedi training would be made up of attending such boring, mundane meetings.

This was not the life of excitement the boy had been hoping for at all

The members of the Jedi Council continued to nature on as they sat in their respective chairs in the circular room. Everything they were discussing went over Anakin's head. Obi-Wan Kenobi was in the seat alongside him, clearly more engaged in the meeting than his young apprentice was.

"Okay!" Yoda suddenly announced, holding up his green hands. "Time for a break, it is! Continue this meeting in a few minutes, we shall!"

The members of the board got up for their seats. They began to mix and mingle with one another. All extended to spend their break from hours of endless talking by just doing even more talking.

Anakin remained in his chair, still feeling put out. He couldn't take any more of this council meeting. This was the third one he'd had to attend this week and he was sick of it. Why did he even have to be present here? The board were talking of nothing which concerned him. None of what they were going on and on about had anything to do with his training to become a Jedi.

As everyone else mattered and gossiped with one another, Anakin glanced towards the door which led out of the room. Perhaps he could slip away. Why should anyone notice he was missing when hardly anyone acknowledged his presence here? He wasn't included in their tedious discussions. Surely it wouldn't matter to any of them if he left.

With the sound of everyone else chatting to one another filling the round room, Anakin edged towards the door. He was eager to slip out of this meeting and find something more productive to do for his Jedi training. Perhaps he could find a lightsaber to practice wielding with…

"Going somewhere, Anakin?"

Anakin froze to hear a voice address him in the room for the first time that day. He turned to see Obi-Wan gazing towards him. The boy slumped defeatedly back in his chair. He should have known that if anyone would notice him trying to sneak away from the meeting, it would be his master.

"No, Master," Anakin sighed. "I'm not going anywhere."

Obi-Wan smiled at his apprentice. "How are you finding attending these meetings with the Jedi Council?"

"How am I finding them?" Anakin made no effort to hide how frustrated he was. "They're so boring!"

"Boring?!" Obi-Wan repeated, aghast at the comment made by the young boy. "How can you say that about these meetings, Anakin?!"

"How can I say that about these meetings?" Anakin frowned irritably. "How can anyone sit through them?! Politics are stupid, annoying and creep into where they are not wanted! Even more than sand!"

"Where's all this come from?" Obi-Wan asked, bewildered.

"When you told me you were going to train me to become a Jedi, Master, I expected you'd be showing me how to use the Force and do battle with a laser sword!" Anakin gazed around the council room with distain. "I thought I'd be blasting across the Galaxy and taking down our enemies! I didn't think for one second I would have sit through all these endless political meetings!"

"There's far more to becoming a Jedi than space fights and adventures, my young apprentice," Obi-Wan explained. "Wars always start to politics. If we are to defeat the Sith, we are to get to the root of what it will take to bring them down."

"Geez! And here I always thought getting into politics was a path to the Dark Side!" Anakin raised a fist. "Just you watch, Master! When I complete my training, there will be much excitement to spread across the galaxy! None of these mundane meetings will be around to bore everyone!"

Obi-Wan smiled and shook his head, believing what his apprentice was saying was nothing more than naïve beliefs out of his youthhood. The Jedi Master was confident the youth would grow out of such desires for adventure when he would become older and wiser, as well as honoured to attend political meetings with the council.

One day, you'll learn, he thought, my young Padawan.

How little Obi-Wan knew that the future ahead was indeed to contain much exhilaration and many exploits across the galaxy - all of which was to be caused by none other than Anakin…

The end.
