The RK900's LED spun a wary yellow in the kitchen. Gavin Reed's small apartment was quiet. The deviant android fiddled with his work ID and then the box on the table. Waiting on Reed to get home was stressful. The gift in the box was created by Kamski himself. A secret kept for a month and a half. Today was a special day. Richard's ears picked up the sound of keys dropping in the hallway along with a muffled curse. Typical Gavin. Taking a calming breath, the android turned toward the door ready to greet his partner. Reed opened the door to see Richard twiddling his thumbs.

"Richard. What did you do. You look guilty. What did you do..?" Gavin sat down his jacket on the couch.

The RK900 had a creepy smile when it spoke. "Hello Gavin, Happy Birthday! I made you dinner in the fridge and brought home a surprise. I must apologize for just letting myself into your home without alerting you first."

Gavin nodded and stood next to Richard. "It's fine, it's your home too you know, staying at the DPD is no way to live. Connor lives with Hank, so..yeah." the detective scratched at his nose awkwardly.

"Open the box Gavin. I hope you like it."

Gavin took the flaps of the box and pulled it open. A large Scottish Fold cat jumped out onto the table. Her little bell jingling. The detective was in awe of the grey cat. "I know your apartment is no pets allowed but the owner made a exception for this. It's a android cat. That means there's no messes or fur clean up. I programmed her myself. Kamski built her. Her name is Molly." Richard said while picking the cat up.

"You guys are awesome, I love it. That's why you've been strange with me recently." Reed blushed faintly. Richard's LED shifted blue, relieved that his partner loved the gift. Handing Molly to Gavin was a sight to behold. Fluffy and warm, the cat was a masterpiece of technology. You couldn't tell it was android cat until you had to feed it thirium. Loud purring was heard. Playtime.

They had come a long way. From Gavin hating his synthetic guts to being content with his presence everyday.

Richard was happy.
