Convictions- Chase's Prophecy

Kitty stood up. She had been peacefully watching the sunrise. She stretched and looked down at her paws.

It's gonna be a long day. She thought, as the fur on the back of her neck prickled.

She had used her magic to save Ryder from a pack of wolves. -She had been in human form then, granting Ryder's wish. She liked being a fox more because there were fewer insecurities.- But Chase, took it wrong. Now, Kitty is pretty sure, he thinks of her as a witch.

"Hi, Kitty. what's up?" Skye padded out of her puphouse and sat on a comfortable-looking patch of grass.

"Not much. Chase spread the word, didn't he?" Kitty calmly drew her paw over her ear.

"Yeah. He keeps going on and on about how you're a witch." Skye said.

"Chase has resented me ever since Ryder changed my number from 24 to 1.5" Kitty sighed. "I don't get it."

"He was used to being secondary."

"But he is second in command! I'm only back up!" There was a pause. "And Ryder wants me closer to him,"

Kitty normally wouldn't say these things out loud, but she felt at ease with Skye. More than anyone else on the team.

Skye was the pup who helped her with her songwriting dilemmas. She was her dancing instructor. They had a best friend, felt like a sister kind of relationship. Without Skye, Kitty and Ryder probably wouldn't even be a couple! She shivered.

"What other magic can you do?"

"Well, I can Slimmer." She took a deep breath. "What was seen is unseen, what was sensed becomes senseless, what was bone is blending, what was fur is air."

"Cool!" Skye yipped as Kitty flickered out of view.

"I can also do Shana-Sharm." She flickered back into view. "Come together rays of light, comfort me in deadly night, weave a wall of thickest mist, every fiend and foe resist!"

Skye watched in awe as the air around Kitty seemed to shimmer and shine. Then, it faded from view.

"I can also do Pashanda." She sat down. "Eye of Gerra, inner glance, share your secrets through my trance."

"Wow!"

"I can do Wak'kiar too."

"What's that one?"

Kitty's tail twitched. "I am the fur that ruffles your back, I am the twist and shake of your tail, let me appear in the form of your body, no one can tell, others will fear, dare not come near!"

"Did Ryder know about all of this before Chase blabbed your secret?" The annoyed cockapoo said.

"Yes, it wasn't a secret. I was just waiting for the right time to reveal it." She turned towards a bush. "You can come out Chase. I know you're there."

"How did you-"

"Pashanda," Kitty responded. The two girls got up to leave.

"Oh, and Chase?" Kitty through over her shoulder. "The cause of one man's fury is not the others' rank."
