For those who haven't heard, Amhuluk is an original kaiju from the MonsterVerse. Amhuluk appeared in the comic Godzilla: Dominion, and he is one of the most interesting kaiju in the franchise.

New Guinea

Located in Oceania in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, the world's second-largest island was separated from Australia by about 150 kilometers. In addition to being the second biggest island on the planet, New Guinea was also the largest island that was covered almost entirely by dense jungle, and more than half of the plants and animals that resided here were found no where else. It was a dramatic landscape of mountains and valleys. The calls of various species of birds echoed throughout the jungles like songs praising this marvel of nature. However, today the bird calls were drowned out by the sound of loud tremors and earthquakes, and the additional beastly roar that echoed through the mountains and valleys of New Guinea.

Roaming through the vast sea of lush greenery and biodiversity was a creature of truly titanic proportions. Standing at 106 meters tall, this quasi-humanoid kaiju's body was bulky, asymmetrical, and resembled a mess of black vines, roots and trees tied together. Two long arms tipped with five-fingered claws hung from both sides of its bulky body, while four muscular tree trunk-like legs located underneath said body were used for walking, creating small tremors with each steep they took. Blue-colored streaks adorned the monster's huge body while dozens of dead trees protruded from its back. Finally, this kaiju had a head that resembled that of an anglerfish with ten orange eyes that glowed brightly, jaws filled with needle-like teeth and a stinger-like protrusion that was present on the tip of its long tongue, while four long octopus-like tentacles protruded from the back of its hideous head.

This creature went by the name Titanus Amhuluk!

Shortly after being freed from King Ghidorah's control, Amhuluk began searching for a territory to call his own, preferably one with a lot of vegetation. His search lead him to the Amazon Rainforest, which was already claimed by Behemoth, a titan that resembled a cross between a giant ground sloth and a woolly mammoth. Being that the Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, it was the perfect habitat for Amhuluk. Of course, Behemoth had no intention of sharing his territory with another titan, which inevitably lead to the two giant monsters fighting. Their brawl was short but brutal, ending with Amhuluk knocking Behemoth unconscious with a punch to the face. Amhuluk then tried to kill Behemoth by dragging him into deeper water in order to drown him. But before he could do so, Godzilla arrived and knocked Amhuluk away from the unconscious Behemoth, saving the latter's life.

As the alpha, it was Godzilla's duty to establish order and decide who will keep the Amazon Rainforest. The Monster King had decided that Behemoth was the better candidate to keep the Amazon due to his ability that allows plants to grow to alarming rates, thus helping restore fair oxygen levels for the whole planet. Had Amhuluk been allowed to keep the jungle instead, it would have undone all of that.

Being a very intelligent creature, Amhuluk knew that he would stand no chance against Godzilla should he pick a fight, so he opted to yield to the Monster King and leave to find a new place to call home.

His second target was Africa, home to the second biggest rainforest in the world, the Congo Basin. But once again, Amhuluk found himself faced with opposition as the Congo had already been claimed by Mokele-Mbembe, a titan that resembled a cross between a sauropod, an elephant and a crocodile. Not wanting to get in trouble with Godzilla again, Amhuluk was forced to leave once more.

After several weeks of searching, he finally arrived at New Guinea. This jungle was much smaller than the Amazon Rainforest and the Congo Basin, but was nevertheless filled with the resources he required. And considering that another kaiju hadn't already laid claim to this territory, it will have to do.

As Amhuluk continued exploring this new territory, the ground beneath his feet suddenly began rumbling violently, prompting the kaiju to freeze in place and keep his guard up, sensing that he is about to have company. And he is right. 197 Meters away from himself, the ground erupted upwards as several incredibly long vine-like tendrils sprouted upwards from the earth, with some of them having Venus flytrap-like mouths on their ends. The earth continued to rumble violently as a gigantic green mass started rising from the ground amidst the swinging tendrils. Amhuluk's ten eyes are incapable of complex movements like human eyes, but if they could, they would have widened in shock as an even bigger titan fully emerged from the ground, and let out a bone-chilling cry!

Standing right in front of Amhuluk was a creature that was roughly the same height as Godzilla himself, if not a little taller. A central pointed bole came down and revealed a massive mouth, resembling that of a Mosasaur or crocodile, complete with a tongueless maw that was filled with a multitude of knife-like teeth. Six large tusks, three on each side, protrude from the fulcrum-region of the beast's mouth, just beneath each pupiless eye, while a yellowish-red sac located on the chest of its massive body glowed brightly. However, the primary feature of this new titan were the many vine-like tendrils that were located at the base of its huge body, waving in the air like angry cobras. Some of these tendrils possessed mouths with small teeth, similar to Venus flytraps, while others ended in sharp, spear-like ends. The smaller mouths let out high-pitched screeches while the much bigger mouth let out a loud, almost whale-like cry.

This colossal titan was none other than Biollante!

Amhuluk initially took a few steps back, startled by the sudden appearance of this much larger kaiju. However, his initial surprise quickly disappeared and he let out a loud roar at the towering Biollante — and its message was obvious: 'This is my territory, and I will not tolerate intruders! Get out!' It took him weeks to find a suitable territory like this that was not already owned by another kaiju, and Amhuluk has no intention of just giving it up to Biollante without a fight.

The floral kaiju simply responded with a bellowing roar of her own right back at Amhuluk.

It was clear that neither titan had any intention of sharing this territory with the other, and there was only one way to settle this dispute...

Deciding to make the first move, Biollante shot several of her incredibly long tendrils straight at Amhuluk, piercing through and impaling him in several areas of his body. Three of her vines completely pierced through his chest area — an area where the heart and lungs would be located — with frightening accuracy. However, despite getting impaled in numerous vital areas of the body, Amhuluk did not show any sings of discomfort, much less pain. Instead, the ten-eyed monster pulled back his left arm, and, in a move Biollante couldn't possibly see coming, threw his fist forward. Upon throwing his punch, Amhuluk's arm appeared to stretch five times its original length in an instant, swiftly covering the distance between himself and his opponent before connecting to the side of Biollante's head. Unlike her opponent, Biollante felt the power behind the punch and snarled in pain from the attack. As quickly as he stretched his arm and delivered his first blow, Amhuluk retracted his arm back in an instant, much like how a chameleon would retract its long tongue after catching a bug with it. But he wasn't finished; Amhuluk repeated the same move, this time with his right arm. But this time, upon stretching his arm to an incredible length to reach his opponent's head, instead of punching, he slashed at Biollante's face with his sharp claws, close to where her eye was located.

What made this even more frustrating for Biollante was the fact that her tendrils still remained lodged in Amhuluk's body, yet he did not acknowledge them whatsoever.

Though painful, neither the slash nor the punch from Amhuluk were enough to do lasting damage to the 120 meter tall floral kaiju, who possessed potent regenerative properties. Furious, Biollante summoned more of her snake-like vines to ensnare the body of her opponent. In addition to the three tendrils already impaling him, Amhuluk found himself wrapped nearly from head to toe by more of Biollante's serpentine vines. Two tendrils wrapped around his arms, three more around his bulky body, a few wrapped around three of his four legs, and one around his neck. The miniature mouths that were located on the ends of some of the tendrils bit down on numerous parts of Amhuluk's body, which, again, failed to produce painful reaction from the kaiju. Growing more irritated by this creature's apparent inability to feel physical pain, Biollante used her superior strength to lift the struggling Amhuluk off the ground and hold him high in the air for a moment before sending him soaring through their with a mighty fling of her tentacles.

Amhuluk bounced across the land of greenery like a football before coming to a slow stop. He did not have a chance to recover, however, as four of Biollante's personal flytraps immediately attacked him from behind, sinking their teeth in numerous areas of his body, including his back and shoulders, and even the dead trees on his back. Again, Amhuluk did not feel any pain and was instead merely irritated by them. He promptly grabbed two of the snake-like vines with his hands before tearing them off. As Amhuluk turned around to face his opponent, he once again found himself ensnared by the many powerful tendrils of the floral kaiju.

Again, Biollante lifted him with her tendrils and brought him closer to her face, where she opened her enormous mouth as wide as possible. Amhuluk had but a second to react and use his left arm to shield his head from a large quantity of radioactive corrosive sap that was expelled from Biollante's throat. Upon touching his arm, the sap almost immediately showed its deadly effect by completely eating through and dissolving Amhuluk's entire arm. This shocked the four-legged kaiju, not expecting his opponent to have such a deadly ability. Before Biollante could shoot another wave of her corrosive liquid, Amhuluk quickly stretched his right arm at her, grabbing the left side of her head and piercing her eye with his clawed thumb.

The floral titan screeched in pain and dropped Amhuluk to the ground, which was ample time to allow him to repair his missing arm.

Getting up on his four feet, Amhuluk looked over at the endless land of greenery and began concentrating hard. Almost immediately, trees of all shapes and sizes, bushes, vines, logs, and all other form of plant matter (both dead and still-living) that was present was uprooted and levitated upwards into the air by an invisible force. Countless plants ranging from small leaves and tiny mosses, to deceased logs and vines, to some of the largest trees on the island levitated off the ground and floated high in the air almost like balloons. Still under the control of the unseen force, the collected mass of plant matter flew towards and converged on Amhuluk's stump where his left arm used to be. As soon as the first plants attached themselves to the stump, a growing mass of assembled flora began forming as more of the other uprooted plants piled on. Some of the larger flora such as trees, logs, and other hard vegetation were crushed as the growing mass of assembled plants was tightly compressed and sculpted, until, finally, it resembled Amhuluk's old left arm. Once his new arm was completed, Amhuluk produced a toxic discharge from his head that shriveled up the assembled plant matter, ossifying it and making it near-identical to his old arm.

Biollante recovered and regenerated her injured eye just in time to witness Amhuluk having completed crafting his new arm. She was shocked to discover that her opponent not only could not feel physical pain but also possessed telekinesis: the ability to manipulate physical objects using non-physical contact.

But what Biollante still hadn't realized was that her opponent's telekinetic properties were directly tied with his inability to fell pain... because, in actuality, Amhuluk was merely a head and a spine; just like his left arm, the rest of his "body" was a telekinetically-assembled mass of dead vegetation, such as trees, logs, vines, branches, roots, and moss, all melded together by his own mind and sculpted into this particular shape. Because only Amhuluk's head was his real form, he couldn't feel pain from any of Biollante's attacks as they did not strike his head. Furthermore, what appeared like his arms had elastic properties was in reality Amhuluk simply telekinetically hurling parts of his artificial body at supersonic speeds, giving the illusion that he could stretch his arms to incredibly lengths.

Using his telekinesis, Amhuluk had stripped bare a small area of the forest in order to create his new arm, leaving a clearing of 50 meters in diameter to stand out amidst the land of greenery. After having been struck and touched so many times by Biollante's vines (and delivering a few blows to her himself), Amhuluk had realized something about his opponent he hadn't noticed before...

Letting out another bellowing roar of rage, Biollante shot her Venus flytraps-like tendrils at her opponent, eager to sink their teeth. This time, however, Amhuluk responded by lightly raising his left arm, facing the incoming vines with the palm of his hand. What happened next took Biollante completely by surprise: her mouth-tipped tendrils stopped mere inches from her opponent's extended hand. If Amhuluk's head could form facial expressions, he would be grinning with satisfaction right now.

An interesting fact about Amhuluk's telekinesis was that it only affects plant matter, regardless if it is alive or dead; as well as objects derived from plants such as wood and paper. And the titan that he was facing right now was basically a gigantic sentient plant with a crocodilian head.

Amhuluk grabbed two of Biollante's unmoving vines and tore them off, before adding them to his artificial body. He repeated the process, ripping two more tendrils and integrating them into the assembled mass of deceased flora that made up most of his body. What made this even more frustrating and shocking for Biollante was that she could barely move her tentacles, as hard as she tried. Figuring he had added enough plant matter to strengthen his body's composition, Amhuluk turned to Biollante, and, with a sadistic look, lifted both of his arms, his palms facing her. The powerful tendrils that were part of Biollante's overall body suddenly turned around and shot straight at their main body. The floral titan cried out in pain as she was stabbed in numerous places by her own vines and simultaneously bitten by her own miniature mouths. In desperation, Biollante opened her mouth and prepared to spray Amhuluk with her acidic sap, but the latter quickly cancelled the attack by telekinetically controlling one of her vines to wrap around her mouth, closing it shot before she could unleash her acid spray on him. Having restrained the floral kaiju with his telekinesis, Amhuluk once again shot his arms forward at Biollante like pair of pistons and grabbed hold of the orange glowing sac that was located on her chest.

Biollante could see the individual dead plants that made up Amhuluk's arms as they were now widely spaced apart due to the considerable distance their owner was from her while still remaining strongly connected to each other by the invisible force that was Amhuluk's telekinesis, much like how the planets of the solar system are connected by gravity. A muffled howl of pain came through Biollante's closed mouth when Amhuluk dug his claws into the flesh of her sac and began prying it open. Green liquid that may very well be her blood began leaking from the growing wound, not to mention her own tendrils were still tightly wrapped around her main body, biting and stabbing her, and there was nothing she could do to fight back, even if she could regenerate.

This battle initially started out in Biollante's favor; her greater size, powerful tendrils, and potent regeneration nearly overwhelmed Amhuluk... until Titanus Amhuluk recognized her floral, plant-based nature... and that was when the tides turned in his favor in an instant. His telekinetic control over any and all forms of plant matter were not to be underestimated, as she was now discovering the hard way.

The floral titan realized now that she could not defeat an opponent with such a frightening ability, as much as she hated to admit it. She can't defeat him, but there is one last thing Biollante can still do...

Amhuluk's felt his grip on the floral kaiju disappear as Biollante's sold form suddenly broke apart and faded away into glowing energy particles, much to the shock of the assembled mass of dead flora. As the glistening spores floated up into the sky, for a brief moment, Amhuluk saw the face of a female human briefly appear among brilliant dust as it ascended into the atmosphere and disappeared. Once the floral titan was gone from sight, Amhuluk retracted his arms back and let out a bellowing roar of victory into the sky!

"Yeeaaahkggh!"

Finally, he had won and earned himself a territory to call home. Now he could only hope that his battle didn't attract any unwanted attention — especially not from Godzilla.

I hope you all liked this battle.

By the way, Amhuluk is the first comic-exclusive kaiju of the MonsterVerse to receive merchandise.
