DISTRIBUTION: Sure, just email me & lmk where it's going - I like seeing my name in print =) My site is at http://planetslaythis.homestead.com
FEEDBACK: Please, I'd hate to have to Slay for it. =P
RATING: TV-PG
DISCLAIMER: I don't own these characters, Joss Whedon does. If he ever decides to give them to me, that would be nice. =) 'Kiss Me' is from She's All That and is by Sixpence None The Richer (isn't that the coolest name?)

She was sitting alone with her latte when I entered the Bronze. She seemed focused on the stage for some reason. A Christian music band was performing, and they weren't half bad. The Bronze was trying to draw the middle school crowd as well now, so the rock was being substituted with "clean cut pop music" a few nights a week. I figured the crowds wouldn't change, but unfortunately I was wrong. There were kids everywhere, giggling and jumping up and down.

After one nearly knocked me down in a screaming frenzy to get to her girlfriends, I decide to stay where I am for a second and enjoy the band the way willow seems to be.

//Kiss me out of the bearded barley

Lightly, beside the green, green grass

Swing, swing, swing the spinning step

You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress\\

Willow notices me standing there and waves for me to come join her. I do, sitting next to her, and she offers me a sip of her coffee. I take it. She giggles when I make what I can only describe as a shocked and disgusted face.

"Awful, isn't it?" she asks between giggles.

"First, let's determine *what* it is, then we'll talk about how it tastes." I lean my head back and do something that is very much a 'guy thing'. I pour some of the cream from the table's coffee creamer into my mouth.

"Eeew," Willow makes a face. "Guys."

"What *was* that crap?" I demand, still tasting it. I debate emptying a packet of sugar into my mouth.

"Triple espresso, no sugar, no cream, and a cup of lemon juice." she giggles again.

"Were you trying to kill me?"

"Not really. When the band got up on stage, the lead singer was still drinking instead of singing so she explained what she was drinking and a lot of people opted to try it."

"She's able to sing after this stuff? It's a wonder I can talk." I clear my throat and watching me squirm, Willow giggles again. I love her giggle.

//Oh, kiss me

Beneath the milky twilight

Lead me out on the moonlit floor

Lift your open hand

Strike up the band

And make the fireflies dance

Silver moon's sparkling

So kiss me\\

"Xander?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you like this song?"

Is this a hint? I can't tell. God, I want it to be a hint.

//Kiss me

Down by the broken tree house

Swing me

High upon its hanging tire

Bring, bring, bring your flowered hat

We'll take the trail marked

On your father's map\\

"It's okay. You know me. I'll take a depressing REM tune over a cheery girl group any day."

She smiled. "I love this song."

//So kiss me

So kiss me\\

I watch her and make my move. I lean over and kiss her cheek. Hey, it's a start.

She turns to smile at me and our lips brush. We stay like that, just staring at each other, seconds apart. I can feel her breathing heavily and her heart racing. I can't hold back any longer.

I kiss her.
