-Note: The opinions and ideas expressed in this poem are not necessarily those of the author. In other words, I am NOT insane, I do NOT care for murder, and I do NOT condone killing off the adults of your town in a symbolic biblical way. Also, this is based upon Children of the Corn II (which does NOT belong to me) and in the POV of Micah, in case you haven't realized yet. Thank you.-

We are only children
Adults console themselves with lies
Pretend to ignore, pretend not to care
But I can see fear in their eyes

Ring around the rosy
A blast of icy breath
Pocket full of posies
Our town reeks of death

An easy grin to comfort my friends
Unsettling smile to scare all others
I need no one else to stand in my way
I have the Children, my sisters and brothers

Jack and Jill went up the hill
We are too young to slaughter
Jack fell down for King and crown
Blood is thicker than water

The golden stalks are rising high
Harvest time is drawing near
Yet in the back of my throat and mind
Lingers the bitter taste of fear

London Bridge is falling down
Our very town is crumbling
Stones are dropping all around
The grown-up's pride is stumbling

A church set ablaze by innocent hands
They wave as the fire devours the screams
Inside, every last woman and man
Is lost to the flames that shimmer and gleam

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle
Tonight there's a bloodless moon
The dogs, how they howl to see our dark deeds
The harvest will be here soon

I am the shepherd, they are my sheep
I lead them on to salvation pure
The bodies are piling in a wretched heap
I tell them it's right, but I'm not so sure

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
We laugh at their half-witted plans
Screaming, he tumbles and takes a great fall
The rest is in the Lord's hands

Scythe in hand, I await the night
They think they can stop me? Let them try
The time has come to set things right
The corn will flourish and the weeds will die

Hush little baby, don't say a word
I didn't know, I swear I didn't know
The things I've seen, the things I've heard
I paid the price-- now I have to go
