Mulder walked into the church slowly, peering around to see
if anyone saw him. He had only been to this church once
before, and that was because Scully had practically dragged
him to midnight mass at Christmas. He was in desperate need
of solace, but most of all, belonging. Belonging that he
knew he didn't have anymore.
Mulder sat down in the velvet pews and did something he
never did before. He got down on his knees, put his hands
together, put his head down, and he prayed. He
"God! I know you are up there. You are mad, mad at me." He
said. "You have taken away everything that matters most to
me. I mean, you took away my sister, now you're taking away
Scully. And it's all my fault. That's why you are punishing
me, because when Sam was abducted, I screamed and I cursed
your name, because I thought that you were doing this
deliberately to me because I was so mean to her. Now,
twenty some odd years later, you are taking away the one
person who I hold most dear. The one person who I don't
think I can live without. I forget about my billion
troubles when I'm with her, now she is one of those
troubles. It was because of me she has cancer. If she
hadn't ever met me, then she would be just fine, living her
life with a husband, a white picket fence and 2.5 children.
Not lying in a hospital room dying of cancer. The truth
that I so desperately seek is killing her. I am killing
her. I love her so much, and I am killing her." He said,
fighting tears.
He got up, and lit a candle, a candle that burned ever so
brightly. As he did so, it brought back many memories of he
and Scully. Together, forever.
"Nobody in here but the FBI's most unwanted."
"I am actually glad to be working with you."
"I thought you were brought here to spy on me."
"If there's iced tea in that bag, Scully, it could be
love."
"It's root beer, Mulder. Must be fate."
"First I only trusted myself. Now I only trust you."
"Hey, Scully, should we be picking out China patterns or
what?"
"This is for you, Scully. This is for you." He whispered as
he lit the candle. He sobbed quietly as Mrs. Scully watched
him from the church entrance, she had tears running down
her face. She knew her daughter had a special relationship
with this man. The man who nobody in their family could
ever forget, especially Dana. Mulder had come into her life
so abruptly, and refused to come out. 'Who knows', she
thought. 'Maybe, Dana and Fox will be the couple with the
small cottage in the country with a white picket fence and
2.5 children in oh, say four years. In your dreams,
Maggie, in your dreams.' She thought to herself.
