What They Were Like

Chapter One: They are Introduced
"Oh no!" cried James as he heard the bell sound for his very first class. He had recently been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and he had just finished eating when- everyone was leaving and his books just fell out of his backpack. He struggled as he picked up the numerous books, yards of parchment, and ink-splattered quills. "Do you need help?" came a small voice behind him. "Yes, please." he replied, then turned to see his savior. Oh great. That is JUST what I needed he thought miserably. A girl of small build was standing behind him. She had frizzy red hair, but surprisingly green eyes. "I don't need help from a girl" the eleven-year old replied rudely. "Well, if you don't accept mine, I think your pal over there would be glad to offer some help to you." she said coldly. Nearby, there was one other person in the Great Hall- A boy with a Japanese look and greasy black hair. "He is a Slytherin, if a fellow Gryffindor is too hard for you." she added. The other boy looked over, and walked towards them.
"Is there something WRONG with Slytherin, oh, I see, you are Gryffindors, aren't you. I offer my sympathy to you- you must feel upset for being placed in such a terrible house."
"Well, we won't take it. We are happy for being put in Gryffindor, and are thankful that we weren't put in Slytherin with you." the girl replied "Get lost!" James added. Severus looked ready to explode, but noticed that the teachers were still at the High Table, so he muttered "You'll pay" and then walked away.
"I'm Lily, what is you're name?" the girl asked, as she helped him pick up his books. "James, and thanks." James replied. They were so busy picking up the books and walking towards their first class (which was the same), that they didn't notice that Herbology had started without them.
